Everett refused to sign with the Oilers and was traded to the Los Angeles Rams where he played for eight seasons before being traded to the Saints in 1994. He was the Saints starting quarterback for three seasons. Everett then signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers where he played his final NFL season. He finished his three year career in New Orleans throwing for 10,622 yards and 60 touchdowns. His record with the Saints as the starting quarterback was 17-30.
