 Photo By: New Orleans Saints Da Boot Sports 7/5/2024 By: Terrill J. Weil Pat Swilling was part of the vaunted 'Dome Patrol' along with Rickey Jackson, Vaughn Johnson and Sam Mills. The Saints drafted Swilling in the 3rd round of the 1986 draft. He would go on to become a pass rushing force for New Orleans finishing with 76.5 sacks in his seven seasons (1986-1992) with the black and gold. In 1991 he won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl five times and is in the Saints Hall of Fame. In 2009 he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. The Saints traded him to Detroit in 1993. He would go on to finish his career with the Oakland Raiders in 1995, 1996 and 1998. He finished his NFL career with 490 tackles, 107.5 sacks, 6 interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries.
