4/1/2022 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU basketball roster continues to take shape as several current players who were recruited by and played for former coach Will Wade are hitting the NCAA transfer portal searching for a new home. The most recent players to enter the transfer portal are Bradley Ezewiro, Justice Williams, Efton Reid and now Eric Gaines as they join Xavier Pinson, Brandon Murray, Shareef O'Neal, Jarrell Colbert and Adam Miller. Also gone are Darius Days (Graduation/NBA Draft) and Tari Eason (NBA Draft). Only players remaining on the team roster from last season as of now are Mwani Wilkinson, Alex Fudge, Spencer Mays, Adam Benhayoune, Brandon Egemo and Parker Edwards. Those who have entered the portal can choose to return to LSU at some point if their search for a new school doesn't work out. For those who won't return, we wish them the best. Da Boot Sports 4/1/2022 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU basketball coach Matt McMahon has began to build his new roster. Two of McMahon's former players at Murray State have hit the transfer portal to follow their coach to Baton Rouge. Guards Justice Hill and Trae Hannibal have decided to join the LSU basketball team for the 2022-23 season. Hill started all 34 games last season as a sophomore averaging 13.4 points, 5.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. He averaged 31.3 minutes per game, shooting 43.1 percent overall and 35.8 percent from three-point range, hitting 63 shots from behind the arc. “We are thrilled to have Juice join our family here at LSU,” said Coach McMahon. “He is a dynamic guard who impacts winning! He represents everything Tiger Basketball is going to be about as we move the program forward. He is a great young man from a great family. We look forward to the opportunity to coach him at LSU.” Hannibal decided to join his teammate in Tiger-Land. Last season the sophomore guard averaged 9.2 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Racers. He shot 51.9% from the floor and played 22 minutes per contest. Hannibal posted "Baton Rougee….Let’s get ittt," on his twitter account. McMahon is slowly rebuilding the team roster for the 2022-23 season with Hill and Hannibal joining center Kendal Coleman, a transfer from Northwestern State. The 6-foot-8, 220 pound Coleman played in 30 games for the Demons last season and grabbed a total of 304 rebounds, an average of 10.1 per game. He averaged 15.4 points per game while shooting 54.6% from the floor. He finished the season with 17 double-doubles. Another addition to the LSU roster is Corneilous Williams, a 6-10 forward from North Carolina. Williams originally committed to Murray State, but because of the relationship that he developed with McMahon, he decided to decommit from the Racers and follow coach to LSU. |
