   BATON ROUGE, La. - Another late rally highlighted by outfielder Ali Newland’s second grand slam of the season gave No. 6/7 LSU a 9-3 victory against No. 11/12 Texas A&M to secure the series sweep on Saturday at Tiger Park.
 
LSU has two SEC series sweeps this season and is now 29-4 overall and 8-4 in the SEC. LSU holds a 10-2 record over ranked opponents this season. Texas A&M is now 28-7 and 8-4 in the conference.


For the second consecutive game, the Tigers cashed in big in the sixth inning, which featured seven runs. Trailing 3-2, LSU opened the inning with three straight singles, including a run-scoring hit by catcher Maci Bergeron to tie the game 3-3. After loading the bases with a walk, Newland launched a ball to center field for her sixth round-tripper of the season, giving the home team a 7-3 lead. The Tigers came from behind to beat the Aggies in each game of the series.  


“Texas A&M is super talented,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “They have all the pieces in their offense. They can run, and they can hit for power. I know that may not have been shown this weekend, but that shows you what type of pitcher Sydeny Berzon is, and Kelly Lynch also held them [Texas A&M] down well.”
 
Pitcher Sydney Berzon (13-1) earned the victory, dealing four punchouts while allowing no runs with three hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. Berzon won all three games in the series, making her the first pitcher since 2011 to register three wins in a three-game SEC series (Brittany Mack, at Mississippi State, April 29-May 1, 2011). Pitcher Raelin Chaffin started the game in the circle and threw three strikeouts in 1.2 innings. 
 
Texas A&M pitcher Emiley Kennedy (14-5) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits, walked four batters, and struck out three in 5.0 innings. 
 
Newland had two hits and four RBIs, highlighted by her fourth career grand slam. It was Newland’s 30th career multiple-RBI game. Outfielder Ciara Briggs also had two hits, improving her hitting streak to seven games, and added two runs. Both Briggs and Newland lead the team with 13 multi-hit games.


A base-clearing three-run triple from Texas A&M’s infielder Kennedy Powell in the second inning gave the visiting club a 3-0 lead. LSU kept TAMU scoreless the rest of the game, allowing only three hits in the final five frames.


LSU scored nine unanswered runs, beginning with a two-out two-run single from first baseman Raeleen Gutierrez in the third inning. After Bergeron’s RBI and Newland’s slam in the sixth, the Fighting Tigers added two more insurance runs from an error and a free pass to balloon the lead to 9-3. 


“I think this is an extremely talented team,” said Coach Torina. “We hit a little bump in the road. We didn’t respond well after a loss. In the future, I think I’ll be able to coach them through that better. But this has been a talented team since they first took the field this year. I don’t know how that was forgotten, but I did not forget it. I think they are one of the best in the country. They have a shot to be the best.”

   BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU took on Texas A&M in game two of their series and took the contest, 5-1 thanks to a big sixth inning at the plate.

   Things started off rough for the Tigers, with A&M quickly putting themselves on the board in the first inning with a run, taking a 1-0 advantage.

    After a three up three down inning for both sides in the second, the third brought the tension to the Tigers. Kelly Lynch allowed the bases loaded with no outs, but was able to pull her team out of a tough spot with three strikeouts in a row. 

    Lynch held A&M scoreless again in the top of the fourth, but LSU was still lackluster on offense. LSU mounted a scoring threat due to some confusion on a dropped third strike pitch by the A&M catcher, but it proved to be futile. The game headed to the fifth with the Aggies still holding a 1-0 lead.

    In the fifth, Lynch continued to hold her ground in the circle, allowing only fly balls. After Ali Newland landed the first hit against A&M, the Aggies made a pitching change. Taylor Pleasants responded with a double that pushed Ciara Briggs across the plate to tie the game. 
    
    Newland made an incredible diving catch on a line drive to kick off the top of the sixth. Lynch allowed another walk that loaded the bases for A&M, forcing Coach Torina to bring in Sydney Berzon. Lynch left the circle having pitched 5.2 innings with 125 thrown and 6 strikeouts, staying solid against A&M until she stepped into the dugout. 

    Berzon immediately showed A&M what she could do, getting that much needed ground ball from the batter for a 4-3 play to get LSU off the field.

   The bottom of the sixth is where Tiger Park came to life. Texas A&M chose to make another pitching change and that pitching change proving to be what sealed their fate.

   Maci Bergeron sent McKenzie Redoutey to third with a single, and  took second on the throw. Savanna Bedell came in to pinch run for Bergeron.  Maddox McKee gained an RBI on her ground ball before Bedell came home from third base on a wild pitch. Briggs followed with a single, loading the bases. Pleasants and Gutierrez were both walked in succession, putting two more up for the Tigers. The inning ended with LSU up 5-1.

   The Tigers made quick work of Texas A&M in the top of the seventh to end the game with two strikeouts and a ground ball from Berzon. 

   With the win the Tigers win the series and are now 28-4 overall and 7-4 in SEC play. 

   LSU will look to sweep the Aggies on Saturday, March, 30th at Tiger Park. First pitch is set for 2:00pm.

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU Tigers played a tense game against Texas A&M, pulling out a 2-1 win in walkoff fashion.

   The first inning saw the Tigers struggle early.  A&M came out swinging with two base hits.  Then a walk from Sydney Berzon loaded the bases. Another walk followed scoring a run. The game headed to the bottom of the first inning with the Tigers down 1-0. 

    The second inning saw some action in the top. A runner on first for Texas A&M stole second, then took third on a bad throw from the catcher. Coach Torina responded by calling a challenge on the runner for leaving early. After review, the call was overturned and the runner was out, ending the top of the inning. 

    In the third, both LSU and A&M went three up three down, but the Tigers pulled off an impressive 6-4-3 double play to end their defensive half.

   In the bottom of the fourth inning, LSU started to get their groove back at the plate. Kelley Lynch hit a single, pushing Raeleen Gutierrez to third. Karli Petty was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but the Tigers were unable to get in a run before the third out. 

    The Tigers scored again in the bottom of the fifth inning. Maci Bergeron broke it open with a double, then Maddox McKee was safe at first on a shortstop error. A&M did manage to turn a double play, but Ciara Briggs was able to hit a clutch single to push Bergeron across the plate to tie the game. 

    The sixth and seventh went quickly. Neither LSU or A&M performed at the plate, besides one single from McKenzie Redoutey. Due to the tie, the game moved to extra innings.

 In the eighth inning, Berzon continued to perform and shut out A&M’s batters. In the bottom of the frame, Taylor Pleasants stepped up to the plate and hit a solo walk off home run, for the 2-1 victory.

   LSU improves to 27-4 overall and 6-4 in the SEC. 

   Next up LSU will face Texas A&M again on Friday, March 29th in Tiger Park at 5 pm.

   THIBODAUX, La. – Third baseman Maddie McKee logged a career-high three hits and two RBIs, and a pair of homers from outfielder Ciara Briggs and pinch hitter McKaela Walker led No. 6/7 LSU past Nicholls 10-2 on Tuesday night at Swanner Field, Geo Surfaces Park.
 
LSU is now 26-4, and Nicholls falls to 17-15 this season. LSU recorded 13 hits as a team, marking its 12th game this season with 10 or more hits.
 
Pitcher Raelin Chaffin improved to 8-2 in the circle, where she tallied five strikeouts and allowed two hits and two walks in her third complete game of the season. Chaffin kept the Colonels hitless and retired 12 consecutive batters through 5.1 innings.
 
Nicholls’ pitcher Molly Yoo (5-3) was charged with the loss, allowing three runs on two hits with a strikeout in 1.2 innings. Pitcher Averi Paden took over and allowed 11 hits and seven runs with six walks and two strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
 
Second baseman Karli Petty joined McKee with three hits in the game and added one ribie. Briggs finished the game with two hits, including her 10th career home run, and first baseman Raeleen Gutierrez also had two hits and an RBI in the game.
 
LSU scored three runs in the second inning with McKee’s RBI double and Briggs's two-run dinger. McKee brought another run across with a two-out single in the third, upping the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. 


The Bayou Bengals added more runs in the sixth thanks to Walker’s first career home run, a three-run blast that increased the lead to 7-0.


After Nicholls plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth, LSU pieced together its third three-run inning of the night, highlighted by a run-scoring triple by Gutierrez, stretching its margin to 10-2. 


Chaffin closed the door and retired the last four batters she faced to secure the win.

   COLUMBIA, Mo. – Utility pitcher Kelley Lynch drove in the go-ahead run late in the sixth inning as No. 2/3 LSU avoided being swept and ended a four-game losing streak by defeating No. 15/16 Missouri, 4-3 on Sunday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
LSU is now 25-4 and 5-4 in the SEC, and Missouri moves to 25-7 and 4-5 in conference play.
In the sixth stanza, with two runners on, Lynch singled to left field to score one runner, and a throwing error cleared the way for the game-winning run to touch home plate to regain a 4-3 advantage heading into the final inning. 
Lynch started the game in the circle but did not receive a decision after 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two runs with a batter walked. Pitcher Sydney Berzon (10-1) earned the win after striking out three batters, allowing one hit and a run with one free pass in 5.1 innings. 
Missouri pitcher Laurin Krings (8-5) was charged with the loss. She allowed seven hits, four runs, one walk, and two strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
Seven of LSU’s starters recorded a hit, led by outfielder Ciara Briggs, who notched her 11th multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 at the dish and driving in one run.
LSU scored in the opening inning for the third consecutive game, thanks to Briggs scoring on a wild pitch following her one-out triple. However, Missouri responded in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer from designated player Katie Chester to take the lead. 
Briggs tied the game at 2-2 with a run-scoring single in the top of the third, but another unearned run for Mizzou at the bottom of the frame reestablished the home team’s lead, 3-2 until the sixth inning.
Berzon prevented Missouri from doing more damage to LSU by retiring nine straight batters, starting in the fourth inning, until a walk was allowed in the seventh. The LSU defense kept Missouri scoreless for the final four innings to secure the result.

LSU will have a midweek game at Nicholls in Thibodaux, La., on Tuesday, March 26, before returning to Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La., for a three-game series against Texas A&M, March 28-30.

​   COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the second consecutive game, No. 2/3 LSU let an early lead slip away in a 3-2 loss to No. 15/16 Missouri on Saturday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

   LSU is now 24-4 and 4-4 in the SEC, and Missouri improves to 25-6 and 4-4 in conference play. 

   Missouri pitcher Marissa McCann (4-1) allowed three hits and a batter to walk in 4.1 innings with no strikeouts in 4.0 innings to claim the win. Pitcher Taylor Pannell got her sixth save of the season and recorded Mizzou’s only strikeout in 1.0 innings.

   Raelin Chaffin (7-2) was charged with the loss. She threw two strikeouts while allowing four hits and three runs in 2.2 innings. Pitcher Sydney Berzon fanned six batters and allowed one hit in 3.1 innings.

   Berzon entered in relief in the third inning and retired the first eight batters she faced until a hit was given up in the sixth, highlighted by a strikeout with bases loaded in the third. The sophomore pitcher retired nine out of ten batters faced.

   Outfielder McKenzie Redoutey led LSU with two hits in three at-bats, including her third home run of the year and 12th in her career. Outfielder Ali Newland accounted for LSU’s other run with her fifth dinger of the season.
Newland lifted a two-out solo shot to right center in the opening inning to give LSU a 1-0 lead. After registering a double play that involved throwing a runner out at home plate to end the first inning, Redoutey blasted LSU’s second dinger of the game, increasing its lead to 2-0 in the second frame.

   Missouri took the lead with a three-run third inning, all unearned runs, punctuated by two run-scoring singles.

   COLUMBIA, Mo. – In a back-and-forth affair that featured four lead changes and three ties, No. 2/3 LSU fell to No. 15/16 Missouri, 10-9 on Friday night at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
 
LSU is now 24-3 and 4-3 in the SEC and Missouri is 24-6, and 3-4 in conference play. 
 
Missouri pitcher Marissa McCann (3-1) is credited the win, allowing a hit with a strikeout thrown in 2.2 innings. Pitcher Taylor Pannell took over in the final inning and was awarded her fifth save, dealing a punch-out with no hits allowed.
 
Utility pitcher Kelley Lynch (4-1) was charged the loss, throwing three strikeouts while allowing five hits and three runs, with four batters walked, in 5.0 innings. Pitcher Sydney Berzon started the game, fanning three batters and allowing six hits and seven runs in 1.0 innings.
 
Infielder Raeleen Gutierrez paced the LSU offense with a 3-for-4 performance and matched a career-high four RBIs, highlighted by her fifth home run of the season and ninth of her career. Lynch and outfielder Ali Newland added to the Tiger offense, knocking two hits each. Lynch had two RBIs in the game and Newland tacked on one RBI.
 
Consecutive singles for LSU set up Gutierrez's two-RBI double, and Lynch added another run-scoring double in the top of the first inning. Missouri, however, scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-4 lead through two innings, led by outfielder Alex Honnold’s two doubles and four RBIs.
 
The Tigers put up three runs in the third inning, including a two-RBI single from catcher Maci Bergeron to pull within one run at 7-6, and another three-spot in the fourth inning, taking a 9-7 lead thanks to a full-count two-run blast by Gutierrez for her third extra-base hit of the game.
 
Missouri scored two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth, led by catcher Julia Crenshaw’s home run, to take a 10-9 lead, which was the eventual final score.

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The Tigers met Ole Miss at Tiger Park on Monday evening for the rubber match of their three game SEC series. LSU wasn't able to bounce back from their first loss of the season, dropping their 2nd game in a row, 9-2 to the Rebels. 


   Ole Miss grabbed the lead in the top of the 2nd inning. With two outs, Angelina Deleon singled to right field. Ryan Starr then singled to left field. Jalia Lassiter hit a single to left center field, scoring Deleon and moving Starr to third base. Lassiter moved to 2nd base on the throw. 
   With runners on second and third and two outs, Jaden Pone hit a two RBI single to left field. The runs, chased LSU starting pitcher Raelin Chaffen as Beth Torina went to her bullpen to bring Kelley Lynch in who stopped the bleeding, getting LSU back into the dugout. The Rebels took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 2nd inning. 


   Ole Miss extended their lead in the top of the 3rd when Aynslie Furbush launched a solo homer to left center field. 4-0 Rebels as we headed to the bottom of the frame.


   LSU finally responded in the bottom of the 3rd when Taylor Pleasants hit a home run over the right field wall off of the scoreboard. The Tigers now trailed 4-1 as the contest headed to the 4th inning. 


   LSU was able to plate a run in the bottom of the 4th, cutting the Ole Miss lead to, 4-2.


   The Rebels remained hot at the plate, pounding the LSU pitchers for four more runs to increase their lead to,
8-2.


   Ole Miss led off the top of the 6th inning with a hit batter and a single. With one out and runners on first and second, Aynslie Furbush hit a RBI single to left field to put the Rebels up, 9-2. 


   The Tigers were unable to mount a comeback as they fell to the Rebels, losing the series. 


   With the loss, LSU falls to 24-2 overall and 4-2 in SEC play... 


   Next up LSU will travel to Columbia to play Missouri in a three game SEC series from Fri. March 22 thru Sun. March 24..

   BATON ROUGE, La. – A five-run rally over the final two innings handed No. 2 LSU its first season loss, a 5-2 setback against Ole Miss Sunday night at Tiger Park.
 
LSU falls to 24-1 and 4-1 in SEC play. Ole Miss, meanwhile, improved to 19-8 and 2-3 in league play.
 
Ole Miss pitcher Makenna Kliethermes (9-2) was credited the win with four strikeouts and allowed seven hits, three walks and two runs in 6.1 innings. Pitcher Catelyn Riley earned her second save of the season after recording the game's final two outs.
 
LSU pitcher Sydney Berzon (9-1) was charged with her first loss of the season, throwing eight strikeouts. Berzon gave up five runs—two of which were earned—and allowed six hits and two walks in the complete-game setback.


Outfielder Ciara Briggs went 2-for-4, continuing her six-game hitting streak. Designated player Kelley Lynch and second baseman Karli Petty had one hit and one RBI in the loss.


“I think we are going to be better for this loss,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “The undefeated record was like a monkey on our back, and we began to play tight in some games. I think we will be better for this moment. Did we want to have this moment? Of course not, but I truly think we will be better tomorrow because we've moved on from everything we were carrying.”
 
Petty knocked a standup double in the second inning, advanced to third on a passed ball, and was brought home on a sacrifice fly from Lynch to put the home team ahead early, 1-0.


After surrendering a leadoff double in the first inning, Berzon and the defense retired the next 17 consecutive batters, including seven strikeouts, through 5.2 innings.  


In the fourth inning, LSU increased its lead to 2-0 behind another sac fly—this time from Petty—scoring outfielder McKenzie Redoutey, who opened the frame with a single.


After the Tigers recorded the first two outs in the sixth to cap the streak of 17 retired batters, Ole Miss outfielder Jalia Lassiter hit her second double of the day, eventually sparking consecutive RBI singles to even the score at 2-2. 


The Rebels then scored three runs on two hits and three errors in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead, highlighted by Lassiter's two-RBI single.


LSU attempted a rally in the seventh after Lynch and Briggs turned in base knocks, but unfortunately, the Tigers were unsuccessful as the game's final two batters grounded out. 


“I think we must keep playing big,” coach Torina said. “We’re down in the 7th inning, and we continue to get people on base and have great at-bats. We showed fight and grit even when the game wasn’t going our way.”

   BATON ROUGE, La. – Right-hand pitcher Kelley Lynch threw her third complete game shutout this season and No. 2 LSU’s ninth shutout on the year with a 3-0 victory over Ole Miss Saturday afternoon at Tiger Park.


   The win brings LSU to 24-0 and 4-0 in SEC play. The Tigers are one win shy of matching the program’s best start, joining the 2015 team. Ole Miss falls to 18-8 and 1-3 in league play.


   Lynch improves to 4-0 in the circle after fanning four batters and allowing two hits and four walks with a total of 102 pitched thrown. 


   “Kelley’s [Lynch] performance was huge,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “She threw a great game in a spot where we needed her to. Keeping Sydney Berzon out of the game while throwing a great game was wonderful. Kelley got herself out of some jams and pitched well enough to keep us in it long enough to score.” 


   Ole Miss’ Catelyn Riley (3-3) is charged the loss after surrendering one unearned run, four hits and three walks in 4.0 innings pitched. Riley logged the Rebels’ only strikeout of the day.
 
   Outfielders Ciara Briggs and Ali Newland extended their hitting streaks to five games, leading the team with two hits each. Briggs drove in an insurance run in the sixth inning, and Newland scored the game's first run.


   After surrendering her second walk of the second inning, Lynch retired eight of her next nine batters, including two strikeouts through the fourth stanza. From there, the graduate transfer allowed just three base runners, including two hits and a walk, and had a defense behind her that turned two double plays to end the fifth and seventh innings.


   “I think we played outstanding defense,” said Coach Torina. “I also think we have the best shortstop in the country, so every time we take the field, you’ll see great defense being played.”


   The Tigers scored the first run of the game when Newland touched home plate thanks to a fielding error by the Rebels. 


   After four scoreless innings, catcher Maci Bergeron drew a leadoff walk, second baseman Karli Petty singled to left field, and Lynch’s sac bunt put runners on second and third with one out. Third baseman Sierra Daniel drove in a run on a ground out to the second baseman, and Briggs cashed in on a run-scoring single to left field to make the game 3-0.


   “I thought we did a really good job of executing,” Coach Torina said when asked about the offense in the sixth inning. “We were able to execute a bunt and hit to third when we had speed on the basepaths. Sometimes, that’s what we have to do. It felt like every hard-hit ball was right at somebody, so sometimes you have to use the short game to find ways to win.”

​   BATON ROUGE, LA - Tiger Softball faced the Texas Longhorns in a highly anticipated game as the Longhorns have the prowess to snap LSU’s 22-0 record. But the Tigers took care of business, defeating Texas,  7-4 at Tiger Park on Tuesday afternoon. 

   Sydney Berzon started off the game pitching for the Tigers, earning the first out with a play at first after Texas’s Kayden Henry sends the ball right back to Berzon. 
   
   The opposing Mia Scott continues to be a tough out with a base hit to become the Longhorn’s first runner, Though this dIdn't last long. Katie Stewart stepped up to the plate next and hit a perfect double play ball at Raeleen Gutierrez for a 3-6-3 play to end the inning.
   
   In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers come out hot. Lead off Ciara Briggs got the momentum going with a bouncing slap, slowing the shortstop down to beat the throw. Ali Newland then flied out to left field, Briggs was able to advance to second on a wild pitch. 
   
   Taylor Pleasants was hit by a high inside pitch, followed by Gutierrez with a double, bringing Briggs in for an RBI to put the Tigers on the board. The second out was made on McKenzie Redoutey, but this small win does not last long as Maci Bergeron is walked to load the bases. Karli Petty was then hit by a pitch, bringing in Pleasants.
   
   The hot streak for LSU continued with a stand up double from Kelley Lynch for two RBIs and Petty follows on the throw to bring the score to 5-0. Lynch’s double shook up Texas and they respond by swapping their starter, freshman Teagan Kavan, to have Estelle Czech take over the circle. 
   
   This pitching change proved to be productive for the Longhorns, Czech responded with a ground ball pitch to Sierra Daniel, ending the inning with a classic 6-3 play, leaving one on base.
   
   The Tigers stayed tight on defense as Berzon only allowed one hit, with all three outs coming on ground ball infield plays.

   Back on offense at the top of the lineup, Briggs lays a perfect bunt and is called out on the 1-4 play, but Coach Beth Torina immediately calls for review. The play is overturned, Briggs beat out the catch by a mile, and was safe at first. She stayed aggressive by taking second on a passed ball, but Texas challenged that she left early. Unfortunately for Texas, Briggs did not leave early, she timed it perfect. Newland came back swinging for a tricky ground ball that allowed Briggs to score, extending LSU’s lead to six. 
   
   The inning closed quickly with a fly out from Pleasants then a double play off of Gutierrez’s ground ball. This is where Texas began to tighten up, and showed what they are capable of. In the top of the third, they started to make a comeback with four hits to bring in two due to an error on Pleasants.
   
   Coach Torina used her final challenge on this error, arguing runner interference. The call on the field was upheld, as Pleasant’s fingers only grazed the runner’s shoulder. This did not shake up the Tigers though, as Newland maked an incredible diving catch in left field. The Texas runner was able to tag up and score for the  Longhorns. On the next hit, the runner was drilled by a line drive, awarding LSU with an easy second out. 
   
   The top of the third ended with a ground ball to Pleasants, but not before the Longhorns were able to put three on the board. The bottom of the third was uneventful, with three quick outs and one walk, no hits from the Tigers.

   In the top of the fourth Texas managed two hits, scoring on a line drive that popped out of Pleasants’s glove. The score was now LSU 6-4.
   
   Sierra Daniel came out of the dugout and powerfully hit a triple that reaches the warning track causing the right fielder, Ashton Maloney, to graze the ball and lightly collide with the centerfielder.  Both players were okay, staying in for the remainder of the contest.  
   
   Briggs follows Daniel with a sac fly, giving the Tigers some extra insurance as they extended their lead by three. The next two outs quickly followed, but it proved to be a productive inning with Daniel scoring. 7-4 Tigers.
   
   The fifth inning saw a swift closure with Berzon earning her first perfect inning.

   The Longhorns made another pitching change, sending junior Mac Morgan to the circle. She used her used her opportunity to fire back at the Tigers, allowing no hits and none on base. Three up three down for both LSU and Texas in the fifth. 
   
   The sixth inning followed this same formula, a complete shutout on both sides. Maddox McKee was put in as a pinch hitter for Lynch to start off the bottom of the inning for the Tigers. She maked contact, but was not quick enough to beat the throw to first. 
   
   In the final inning, the Tigers didn't let up. It was another three up three down inning. The second out was Berzon’s strikeout of Mia Scott, which was only the third time she has struck out this season, on a nasty inside rise-ball. The third out was a perfect cookie cutter play from shortstop to first, giving the Tigers their first win against a top three opponent since 2022. 
   
​   LSU’s softball keeps their undefeated winning streak going at 23-0, and 3-0 in the SEC. The Tigers are not slated to play Texas again in this year’s regular season, making this victory that much better. 

   Up next LSU returns to SEC play as Ole Miss visits Tiger Park for a three game series. First game will be on Saturday, March, 16th. First pitch is set for 6:00pm.

   LEXINGTON, Ky. – A six-run sixth inning boosted No. 3 LSU to an 8-3 win over No. 21/23 Kentucky on Sunday at John Cropp Stadium to secure the series sweep to open SEC play.
 
LSU improves to 22-0 and 3-0 in the SEC, while Kentucky falls to 14-7 and 0-3 in the conference standings.
 
Under head coach Beth Torina, the Tigers have won nine of 12 SEC opening series and six of the last seven. This is LSU’s first SEC opening series sweep since 2018, when they swept then-No. 10 Auburn at Tiger Park (March 9-11, 2018). 


Pitcher Sydney Berzon came in relief in the fourth frame and claimed the win, moving to 8-0 after striking out four batters and surrendering five hits, one run and no walks in the last 3.1 innings. Pitcher Raelin Chaffin started the game and fanned four batters, relinquishing two runs, four hits, and two walks in 3.2 innings of work. 


Kentucky pitcher Stephanie Schoonover (8-3) was charged with her second loss on the weekend, allowing three hits and five runs, with four batters walked and a strikeout thrown.


For the tenth time this season and third consecutive game, LSU tallied double-figure hits with 12. On the weekend, the Tigers posted 35 hits.


Four Tigers had multiple hits in the game, led by catcher Maci Bergeron, who had a career-high three hits and added one RBI and one run. Outfielder Ali Newland had two hits, including the RBI double that sparked a six-run avalanche in the sixth inning.


Outfielder Ciara Briggs and infielder Sierra Daniel also had two hits in the game, and Briggs turned in a game-high with two runs. Outfielder McKenzie Redoutey led the team with two RBIs.    


Consecutive two-out RBI singles by Redoutey and Bergeron gifted the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the third inning.


Kentucky’s outfielder Taylor Ebbs tied the game in the fourth inning with a two-RBI double. 


UK threatened to score with bases loaded in the fifth, but the Tigers’ defense held firm, with shortstop Taylor Pleasants pulling off a highlight 6-3 double play. 


LSU blew the game open in the sixth inning, scoring six runs on six hits, highlighted by an RBI double from Newland and RBI singles from second baseman Karli Petty and designated player Kelley Lynch. UK crossed one run in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 8-3.


The Wildcats attempted a rally with two hits in the final inning, but Berzon stifled the revival by posting two strikeouts in the last inning to secure the Tigers' win.

   LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior outfielder Ali Newland drove in the game-winning run in the seventh inning as No. 3 LSU wins its SEC opening series with a 4-3 decision over No. 21/23 Kentucky Saturday night at John Cropp Stadium.

   LSU improves to 21-0 and 2-0 in the SEC, while Kentucky falls to 14-6 and 0-2 in league play.
Pitcher Raelin Chaffin (7-0) is the pitcher of record after throwing the final 1.1 innings, but pitcher Kelley Lynch got the start in the circle and logged a season-high eight strikeouts. Lynch allowed three runs on five hits and four walks in 5.2 innings.

   Kentucky pitcher Jaden Vickers (4-2) was charged with the loss, allowing ten hits and four runs while throwing four strikeouts on 111 total pitches in a complete game. 

   Newland went 2-for-4 at the plate with a game-high two RBIs and scored one run in the win. Second baseman Sierra Daniel and outfielder McKenzie Redoutey each had two hits for the second consecutive game.

   With the score knotted 3-3 in the seventh inning and one out on the board, Daniel singled to second and advanced a base due to a throwing error. After another out was recorded, Newland lobbed a ball into right field to score Daniel and give the Tigers the 4-3 lead.

   The Tigers jumped out to a gracious 2-0 lead after recording three hits, and the Wildcats committed three errors in the top of the first. LSU touched home plate on RBI singles from Newland and first baseman Raeleen Gutierrez, respectively, and held a 2-1 lead after Kentucky scored one run in the bottom half of the inning.

   The Wildcats evened the game in the third with a solo shot from designated player Ally Hutchins, but Lynch stopped the bleeding by striking out the final two batters of the frame.

   After a pair of innings with no score, LSU broke the tie in the top of the sixth with a run-scoring single off catcher Maci Bergeron’s bat, but Kentucky responded in the home half courtesy of a fielding error to tie the game again, 3-3. 

   With bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Chaffin took over in the circle and ended the threat, retiring the last batter in the inning. Chaffin secured the win for the Tigers by retiring four of five batters faced in the seventh and gave up one walk.

   LEXINGTON, Ky. – A two-hour rain delay could not slow down No. 3 LSU’s bats as it tallied 13 hits in the 6-2 victory over No. 21/23 Kentucky Friday night at John Cropp Stadium.


LSU improves to 20-0 and 1-0 in the SEC, while Kentucky falls to 14-5 and 0-1 in league play. The Tigers are now 23-4 in SEC openers and 10-3 when starting league play on the road.


LSU registered its eighth game this season with 10 or more hits, and each starting Tiger logged a hit in the win. On the night, the Tigers had a .406 batting average.


Freshman third baseman Maddox McKee had an impressive SEC debut with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Defensively, McKee had four assists and three putouts.


Three other Tigers, outfielders Ali Newland, McKenzie Redoutey, and second baseman Sierra Daniel, also recorded two hits in the game.


Pitcher Sydney Berzon (7-0) earned the win in a complete-game showing, allowing seven hits, two runs, and three walks with five punchouts.


Kentucky’s pitcher Stephanie Schoonover (8-2) picked up the loss, allowing eight hits, five runs, and four walked batters with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. The Tigers were able to get to the bullpen early, as relief pitcher Alexia Lacatena took over and allowed five hits and a run with no strikeouts in 4.1 innings. 


After scoring two runs in the second inning, LSU’s lead ballooned to 5-0 after a third inning that featured three runs on four hits and three UK errors, highlighted by a run-scoring single from Newland.


The Wildcats scored a run on Erin Coffel's RBI double in the bottom of the third but were stifled by the Tiger defense after having the bases loaded. 


From the fourth to the sixth innings, Berzon retired six consecutive Wildcats until a run came across in the sixth. She then shut down the seventh inning in order, including her fifth strikeout of the night to end the game.

      BATON ROUGE, LA - For the second straight season, the LSU softball team is dealing with a season-ending injury to a key player, this time senior third baseman Danieca Coffey. She suffered an injury to her left knee last weekend, coach Beth Torina confirmed Tuesday.
   
   “Everybody is devastated about it, but we also know we have great depth,” said Torina, who lost catcher Hannah Carson in the second game of the 2023 season to an ACL injury. “We’ll have some young people step up and hopefully not miss a beat.
   
   "I think Danieca’s one of the most positive of everyone about it. She’s been at every practice and every meeting to find ways she can help already.”
   
   Torina said Coffey, a native of Richmond, Texas, will qualify for a redshirt and return for a fifth year in 2025.

   Coffey was attempting to cover a bunt in the fifth inning of Saturday’s 3-1 win over San Diego State when she collided and got tangled with Carson. Coffey was helped off of the field and returned to Tiger Park on Sunday with crutches.
   
   This marks the second player LSU lost to an injury this season. Starting second baseman Karli Petty had arm surgery earlier this year but is nearing a return, Torina said.
   
   Coffey, who made 132 consecutive starts with 16 starts this season, finished with a .404 batting average and 10-game hitting streak. She scored 16 runs, matched her career-high with two homers, had three doubles, two triples and stole five bases to lead the team.
   
   She was coming off a career-best season in 2023 in which she was named to the All-Southeastern Conference second team. She had a team-high .392 batting average, 74 hits, .482 on-base percentage and 12 stolen bases.
