   STARKVILLE, Miss. — No. 9 LSU’s fourth quarter comeback effort fell short as the Tigers fell at Mississippi State, 77-73, in front of a sold out Humphrey Coliseum on Monday night. The Tigers fall to 18-4 overall and 5-3 in SEC play. 

   After LSU went into halftime with a 5 point lead, the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 28-17 in the third quarter to take a six point advantage into the final quarter. Mississippi State led by as many as nine in the final quarter, but LSU, using a full-court press was able to get it within three, but ultimately the Tigers did not get the stops they needed to have a chance to tie or take the lead.

   “When you play a big game on the road like we had against South Carolina, you kind of watch your team and see how they react,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “We played in spurts again. We had a lead and did some things early and then again in the second half we can’t seem to defensively get stops with this team when they matter.”
Angel Reese had another double-double that featured 18 rebounds and 20 points. It marks the 11th game this season Reese has reached 20-points or more. Reese accounted for 51-percent of the LSU rebounds. The junior went 7-17 from the field and was 6-8 from the foul line. 

   Flau’Jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow, and Mikaylah Williams were the only other Tigers to reach double figures. Johnson had 18 on 8-11, Morrow scored 14 on 6-18, and Mikaylah Williams had 12, with 9 in the second half.  

   Jerkaila Jordan led all scorers with 24 points on 9-17 and 3-3 from deep. Jordan scored 12 of her points in the third quarter. Other Bulldogs to reach double figures were Miracle Sheppard with 12 and Darrione Rogers who finished with 19 points and 4 three-pointers. No Mississippi St. player had more than 6 rebounds. 

   The Tigers are off on Thursday and will be back in action when they host Florida in the PMAC on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

   LSU got off to an 8-2 start, but Mississippi St. used defensive pressure and sharp-shooting to build a 16-10 lead into the first media timeout. The Bulldogs held LSU scoreless for over three minutes through the middle of the quarter. The Tigers held Mississippi State without a field goal for the final three minutes of the quarter. LSU ended the opening quarter with a perfectly executed full court in bound play. Williams passed the ball to Reese over midcourt, Reese dropped it off to Johnson, who then assisted a wide open Morrow underneath the rim to make it 20-18, Bulldogs. 

   After Williams toed things at 20, Reese hit two free throws to regain the LSU lead with two minutes to go before the half. The Tigers outscored Mississippi St. 12-4 for the first half of the quarter as LSU built its lead back up to 6 ahead of the media timeout. Morrow snapped a 6-0 Bulldog run with a last second triple to take a 5 point lead into the break. 

   Three Tigers ended the first half in double figures. Johnson, Reese, and Morrow all had 10 points in the first 20 minutes. Reese accounted for 9 of the Tigers’ 16 rebounds. LSU shot 16-32 for 50-percent from the field compared to Mississippi St.’s 15-34 for 44.1-percent. The Tigers earned 19 points off of 10 Bulldog turnovers in the first half. 

   Jordan led the Bulldogs on a 12-2 run that was capped off with a go-ahead three-pointer that gave Mississippi St. a 49-46 lead three and a half minutes into the third. After two more lead changes, Jordan had 21 points at the media timeout. LSU called a timeout with under three minutes to go as the Bulldogs went 4 of its last 4 from the field to go on a 7-0 run and take a 5-point lead. The Tigers went 0-10 from the field down the stretch, but hit all 4 of its free throws to stay within striking distance. LSU was outscored 28-17 in the third quarter and went into the final ten minutes behind by 6. 

   After a 4-0 Johnson run, Mississippi St. scored 7 straight to extend its lead to double-digits, 72-16. At the next timeout 2 points were taken off the board for Mississippi St. after the previous bucket was reviewed and shot clock violation awarded. The Bulldogs called for a timeout after Johnson and Morrow scored on back to back possessions to put the Tigers within five, 70-65. LSU forced 4 turnovers and held Mississippi St. scoreless for over 4 minutes as the Tigers had fouls to give. Rogers broke the drought with a big three to put Mississippi St. up by 6 with a minute remaining. With 17 seconds to go, Williams connected on her first three of the night to put LSU down by 3. Rogers went to the line and went 1-1 to make it a 4 point game and hand LSU its second loss in a row. ​

   BATON ROUGE, LA - Dawn Staley led her squad into a 76-70 victory in a battle of top 10 teams before a sold-out crowd at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. 

   The LSU women lead the all-time series versus South Carolina 22-18, but that holds close-to-no sentiment because the Gamecocks have been the victor in the past 14 meetings, including last season’s 88-64 throttling when both ranked in the top 3. 

   An already electric atmosphere grew as tipoff neared. Pregame festivities included a plaza party outside of the PMAC, food trucks, a live DJ, shirt giveaways, and not to mention ESPN’s College Game Day making the trip to Baton Rouge to feature a women’s basketball game for the first time… EVER. 

   South Carolina won the tip and scored the first basket of the game, an easy layup from Bree Hall. The offense came early and often for both sides, with Chloe Kitts leading the way for the Gamecocks and Aneesah Morrow for the Tigers. With 4:12 remaining in the opening quarter, LSU led 12-11. 

   The Tigers went on a 9-0 scoring run over two minutes out of the official timeout before SC stopped the drought. Van Lith made her first trip to the free-throw line but missed both attempts. LSU gathered the rebound and punched it back out to Lith, where she nailed her first three-ball of the contest. The Gamecocks trailed 24-15 with nine ticks left in the first but capitalized, hitting a buzzer-beating three to draw within six. 

​   Kim Mulkey got the home crowd rowdy, and the fans got awarded for their support. Angel “Bayou Barbie” Reese got going in the second quarter with her scoring. She quickly jumped from three first-quarter points to double digits. 

   Flau’jae Johnson joined the party and showed why she is a defensive force. Johnson poked the ball away from behind the South Carolina possession, leading to a fast break basket for the Tigers. Number four followed that up by stepping into a huge triple. 

   Although Mulkey’s Tigers were able to extend their lead to as many as 11 in the opening 20 minutes of play, Stacey kept her Gamecocks fiery and coached them to a 6-0 run to close out the half. South Carolina trailed 41-36 as the teams headed for the locker rooms, setting the stage for an entertaining finish. 

   The number-one team in the country did not come into Baton Rouge to lay down the fight. On the second half’s opening possession, the Gamecocks forced Reese into a turnover and finished it with a bucket on the other end.

​   Two minutes into the third quarter, South Carolina had managed to make it a one-score, a three-point ballgame. 

   Questionable foul calls and bad turnovers went against the Tigers through the third quarter, but the LSU women held onto their five-point advantage.

   Back-to-back baskets from South Carolina made it a one-point game deep into the third quarter clock, but LSU shut the door quickly and sent the game to the fourth quarter, LSU clinging to a 56-52 lead. 

   Mikaylah Williams started the scoring for LSU in the final quarter of play with a split pair of free throw attempts.. Angel Reese picked up her fourth foul early into the period, forcing Mulkey to sit the star forward. 

   South Carolina took full advantage of the shorthanded Tiger front court, getting to the line and tying the game.

   The Gamecocks took their first lead since the first FGM of the basketball game. South Carolina led LSU 63-61. Angel Reese re-entered the contest. 

​   Aggressive defensive pressure from the Tigers and clutch shots from Hailey Van Lith and Williams put LSU back in front 67-65. Reese was dealt her fifth and final foul with just over four minutes to play. 

   South Carolina tied the game and subsequently took the lead off a deep trey from Bree Hall.

   Van Lith displayed why she was a top player in the nation last year by responding with a massive triple of her own to tie the game at 70 apiece, final Timeout, LSU. 

   The Gamecocks fired back with a “not so fast.” Hall nailed a dagger three-pointer against the Tigers, putting South Carolina in front 73-70.

   From there, they would not look back. The LSU Tigers simply could not muster enough offense. South Carolina would make another dagger basket and hit a free throw before the final horn sounded. 

   Kim Mulkey and the Tigers gave the Gamecocks all they could handle, but in the end, Dawn Stacey and South Carolina rolled into Baton Rouge and proved they were still the Queens of the SEC.

   With the dIsappointing loss the Tigers are now 18-3 overall and 5-2 in the SEC.

   LSU will next travel to Starkville for a road date with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The 10th ranked Lady Tigers (17-2) welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks (14-5) to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday afternoon for another huge SEC contest. LSU went on to dominate every phase of the game, blowing out the Razorbacks, 99-68.

   LSU shot well from the floor all day, finishing 36-74 for 49%. They sank 8-20 from behind the three point arc for 40%. They had a decent night from the free throw line, hitting 19-26 for 73%. LSU forced Arkansas into 7 total turnovers while committing 12. The Lady Tigers dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Razorbacks, 60-33. 

   Five Tigers finished in double figures. Mikaylah Williams finished as the leading scorer for LSU with 21 points. Hailey Van Lith finished with 20 points, while Anel Reese registered a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Aneesah Morrow added 14 points and Flau'Jae Johnson finished with 13 points. 



   The Tigers would get on the board first on a Aneesah Marrow basket at the 9:17 mark, 2-0 Bayou Ben-Gals.

   LSU opened the game on fire, going on a 9-0 run over the first two minutes of the contest.

   The Lady Tigers also began the game playing suffocating defense, not allowing the Lady Razorbacks to score until the 3:47 mark of the opening period on a three pointer by Maryam Dauda. At this point LSU lead 18-3.

   After being held scoreless for much of the first quarter, Arkansas caught fire outscoring the Tigers, 13-7 over the final 3:47 of the period, cutting the LSU lead to 25-16 as the game headed to the second quarter. 


   LSU would go go on a tear to start the second period, going on a 17-7 run over the first six minutes to extend their advantage to 42-23. 

   The Lady Tigers would go on to outscore the Hogs, 13-5 over the final 4:44 of the period to lead, 55-28 at halftime.

   LSU played a solid first half, shooting 20-40 from the floor for 50%. Solid from behind the three point line, hitting 7-14 for 50%. They finished 8-11 from the free throw line for 73%.  The first half turnovers were even at 6 each, while LSU owned the boards, out-rebounding the Razorbacks, 31-12.
   
​   Mikaylah Williams lead the Tigers in the first half with 15 points. Hailey Van Lith scored 12 points. Angel Reese added 9 points. Flau'Jae Johnson scored 8, Aneesah Morrow added 6 while Aslyah Del Rosario had 5 points.


   The second half began with both teams going back and forth trading scores, but the Tigers maintained their 20 plus point lead the entire time. LSU held a 68-41 lead at the 4:53 mark during an officials timeout. Both teams played even 13-13 over the first five minutes of the third period.

   LSU outscored the Lady Hogs, 12-9 over the final five minutes of the third period taking a 30 point lead,
80-50 into the fourth quarter.

   The Lady Tigers outscored Arkansas, 13-11 over the first five minutes of the final period as LSU held a commanding 93-61 lead with 4:46 left in the contest.

​   The Tigers are now 18-2 overall, 5-1 in the SEC.

   Next up is one of the biggest games of the season as top ranked South Carolina comes to Baton Rouge to battle LSU on Thursday, January 25th. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm CST and will be televised on ESPN.

   ​TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — LSU’s 16-point third quarter margin propelled the Tigers in Tuscaloosa Thursday night with a 78-58 win over Alabama in Coleman Coliseum in front of an announced crowd of 5,575 that was the largest in Alabama Women’s Basketball history.

   LSU outscored the Tide 44-23 in the second half, holding Alabama to 4-25 shooting over the final two quarters, to bounce back from a one-point deficit at halftime. Alabama dropped from 40.7-percent field goal shooting in the first half to 16.0-percent in the second. The Tigers were dominant off the glass all night and made the proper adjustments during the break to take over the game in the final 20 minutes. 

   “We executed, came out and ran some things there in the third quarter early that got us going,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “I thought the big difference was we defended a little bit better.”

   Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow both finished with 20 points to lead all scorers and lead the Tigers to its 17th win of the season. The dynamic duo combined for 28 rebounds and each finished with a double-double. Reese had 17 boards to make it her 10th double-double and Morrow hauled in 11 rebounds to make it her 12th double-double of the year.

​   Mikaylah Williams and Flau’Jae Johnson were the other Tigers to reach double figures. Johnson also had 8 rebounds. Williams scored 14 points, 10 coming in the second half. Johnson finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Hailey Van Lith finished with 8 points and 4 assists with no turnovers.

   Aalyiah Nye finished with 18 points after scoring all 18 in the first half to give the Tide a 1-point lead at halftime before Johnson held her scoreless in the second half. LSU’s aggressive game forced Alabama’s leading scorer Sarah Ashlee Barker into foul trouble throughout the game as she was limited to just 8 points, half of her season average going into the game. Loyal McQueen was the only other Alabama player to reach double digits with 15. 

   The Tigers will return home to face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. CT inside the PMAC on ESPN with Tiffany Greene and Nikki Fargas. LSU will then host College Gameday on Thursday before taking on No. 1 South Carolina at 7 p.m. CT. 

   After the Tide scored the opening points of the contest, LSU put together a 9-0 run as it held Alabama scoreless for over three minutes. Alabama responded with a 9-0 run of its own to take a 11-9 lead with over three minutes remaining on the first. Nye hit her second three of the quarter to give Bama another lead, 16-13. Van Lith scored her first point on a layup to move the Tigers within one before the end of the first quarter. LSU did not attempt any free throws through the first 10 minutes. 

​   Both squads traded buckets throughout the first three minutes of the quarter as Alabama held onto its one-point lead following LSU’s first trip to the foul line. Johnson swooped in for a tough rebound then went cross court for a driving layup that tied things up at 25 ahead of the media timeout. Morrow connected on her first triple of the night to cap off a 7-0 LSU run and force Alabama to call a timeout. The Tide hit back-to-back threes and Nye went 2-3 from the free throw line to make it 35-34 before halftime. 

​   Nye was the difference in the first half as she went 4-7 from beyond the arc and finished the first two quarters with 18 points. LSU was just 2-9 from deep and shot 37-percent from the field compared to Bama’s 41-percent. The Tigers had success down low scoring 20 points in the paint and out-rebounding the Tide 26-18. LSU went 6-10 from the charity stripe and Alabama made 8 of its 10 attempts. 

   LSU wasted no time as it executed a quick screen to the elbow for Williams who knocked down the jumper and gave the Tigers a one point lead, 36-35. Morrow hit her second three-pointer of the night to extend the LSU run to 7-0 and force a timeout. Following the break, LSU went on a 10-3 run that saw buckets from 4 of the 5 starters on the floor. The Tigers outscored the Tide 26-10 in the third quarter to take a 15-point lead heading into the final ten minutes. 

​   Reese scored 5 of LSU’s 10 points under three minutes into the final quarter to boost the Tigers lead to 21 ahead of the media timeout. Barker fouled out with 5:51 to go and ended her night with just 8 points. The Tide was held without a field goal for over four minutes through the middle of the quarter. Naomi Jones became Bama’s second player to foul out as she sent Aalyah Del Rosario to the line for the second time. After a few more trips to the free throw lines, LSU rode its lead to finish the night with a 20-point win.

   ​​AUBURN, Ala. — A late LSU effort was not enough to overcome a five-point fourth quarter deficit against Auburn on Sunday afternoon. LSU fell 67-62 in front of the 7,720 fans in attendance, which was the largest crowd for an Auburn Women’s Basketball game in Neville Arena.

   The game was back and forth the whole way down to the wire. It featured 17 lead changes and was tied seven times. LSU’s nine missed free throws proved critical in the five-point scoring margin.

   “We knew that Auburn would get in passing lanes and pressure you and make it very difficult to just make a pass,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “We didn’t handle that very well. I thought energy and enthusiasm. They just came at us from the beginning of the game. We fought back and at half we had a three-point lead, but I’d say defense.”

   Angel Reese became the first LSU player since Simone Augustsus to record a double digit game in 50 consecutive games for the Tigers. Sunday’s contest marked Reese’s 50th game in an LSU uniform. Reese ended the contest with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead all scorers and record her 9th double-double of the season. 

   Aneesah Morrow earned her 11th double-double of the season after dropping 12 points and hauling in 15 rebounds. Morrow led all rebounders on the floor. Flau’Jae Johnson was the only other teammate to reach double figures with 12. 

   Auburn’s Honesty Scott-Grayson led her squad all afternoon as she scored 21 points on 9-21 from the field. JaMya Mingo-Young was the only other Auburn Tiger to reach double figures with 13 points. 

   LSU struggled shooting all afternoon as it finished at 42-percent from the field on 23-55 compared to Auburn’s 44-percent on 26-59. LSU only made 16 of its 25 free throw attempts and allowed 4 three-pointers while not connecting from deep all game. LSU outscored its opponent inside the paint 42-28, but could not get its offense going in rhythm. Both teams finished with 10 steals, 11 assists, and Auburn finished with 2 more turnovers, 17. 

   LSU will return to the state of Alabama on Thursday to take on the Crimson Tide at 8:00 p.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum on the SEC Network. 

   At the first media timeout Auburn held a 14-9 lead over LSU behind a 6-12 shooting performance from the field. LSU was just 3-9 from the field in the opening six minutes of play. Auburn held LSU without a field goal in the final three minutes as it extended its lead to ten. Scott-Grayson led her squad with 8 points in the first quarter to go up 23-15 over LSU, Reese paced LSU with 7.  

​   After a slow first quarter, LSU went on a 10-0 run behind a 6-9 shooting effort led by Reese. Reese reached double figures early in the second to earn her 50th straight game scoring in double digits. Auburn would not score until four minutes into the quarter as it regained its lead and went up 27-25. Auburn called its first timeout after Mikaylah Williams assisted and scored on two consecutive possessions to give LSU a 33-30 lead with three minutes until the break. LSU ended the half outscoring Auburn 22-11 to take a 37-34 lead into halftime. 

   After shooting 33.3-percent in the first, LSU went 11-18 from the field for 61.1-percent in the second quarter compared to Auburn’s 5-13 for 38.5-percent. LSU scored 20 points inside the paint in the second quarter after only scoring 8 down low in the first. Williams finished the half with a career tying 4 steals. 

   Auburn opened the third with a 6-0 run to take the lead for the 5th time. It’s lead did not last long as LSU scored 4 straight to make it 44-42. The LSU defense held Auburn scoreless for over two minutes in the middle of the quarter. Following the media timeout Reese went 2-2 from the foul line to move her total to 20 and put LSU back up by 1. LSU held the home team scoreless for three minutes before Scott-Grayson hit a pull up jumper in the corner to end the quarter 52-51, LSU. 

​   After Scott-Grayson made the go ahead jumper to start the fourth, LSU called a timeout to regroup as it trailed 53-52 with nine minutes left in regulation. At the media timeout Auburn held a four point lead as LSU was still without a field goal in the fourth quarter. Reese earned LSU’s first field goal of the quarter with a put back to make it 59-60 with under three minutes to go. Mingo-Young went 2-2 from the charity stripe to put Auburn back up by 4 with under two minutes remaining. A perfectly run inbound from Last-Tear Poa found a wide open Johnson to make it 62-64. After an LSU turnover with 10-seconds remaining, Auburn went on to make its free throws and give LSU its second loss of the season.

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The 7th ranked Lady Tigers (15-1) returned home to take on the Texas A&M Lady Aggies (13-2) looking to keep their winning streak alive and that they did as they took down A&M, 87-70 in front of 11,536 fans in the P-MAC. 

   Aneesah Morrow led the Lady Tigers with 21 points, while Angel Reese registered a double-double with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Mikaylah Williams added 16 points, Hailey Van Lith scored 14 and Flau'jae Johnson scored 11 on the night. 
   The Tigers finished the contest shooting 47% from the floor while hitting 6-11 from behind the three point arc for 55%. They were solid from the free throw line sinking 25-32 for 78%. LSU out-rebounded A&M, 44-35. 


   The scoring started slow as the first basket of the game came when A&M's Janaiah Barker scored with 8:04 left in the opening period putting the Aggies up 2-0.

   After the slow start both teams heated up as the game turned into a fast track meet with LSU holding a 13-11 lead at the official's timeout with 3:47 left on the clock. Both Angel Reese, (8 points) and Aneesah Morrow (5 points) carried the Tigers offense early on.

   LSU finished the first quarter with a 9-3 run to lead 22-14 as the horn sounded to end the period. 

   The second quarter was a tight battle as the Tigers were able to outscore a tough A&M squad, 19-17 over the first 11 minutes, helping LSU hold onto a 41-31 lead with 3:51 left in the first half. 

   The Aggies would outscore LSU, 6-3 over the final four minutes of the quarter as the Tigers lead 44-37 at halftime. 

   LSU finished the first half shooting 15-37 from the floor for 41%. 50% from three point range, hitting 3-6. They finished 11-13 from the free throw line for 85%. The Lady Tigers out-rebounded the Aggies 24-16. The tough stat of the first half was the turnovers, as LSU had 10 while A&M committed 11. 
   Angel Reese lead the team at the break with 12 points. Mikaylah Williams and Aneesah Morrow both added 9 points each, while Hailey Van Lith contributed 8.


   The third quarter was a carbon copy of the second, with both teams trading baskets and playing tough, physical defense. LSU was able to outscore the Aggies, 10-8 over the first five and a half minutes of the period to lead 55-45 at the 4:37 mark.

   LSU would go on a 13-4 run to end the third quarter as they held a 68-49 lead as the game headed to the fourth period. 

   The Lady Tigers controlled the first four minutes of the quarter, building a 76-57 lead with 6:24 left in the contest. 

   LSU would out last Texas A&M over the final 6:24 of the game to earn their 16th straight victory, 87-70.

   With the win, LSU is now 16-1 overall and 3-0 in SEC play.

   Next up the Lady Tigers will travel to Alabama to play Auburn on Saturday, January 14th. Tipoff is set for 2:00pm and the game will be televised on ESPN.

   OXFORD, Miss. — Mikaylah Williams paced LSU with 20 points to lead the Tigers to a win in their first road SEC game of the year at Ole Miss, 84-73, in the SJB Pavilion saw a record 9,074 on hand at Sunday’s game.

   That’s an Ole Miss program record for attendance and a new record for the SJB Pavilion which opened eight years ago.

   “Other than Mikaylah being a freshman, most of them are experienced players,” Coach Kim Mulkey said about the team’s ability to handle the large crowd. “They view that crowd as their crowd. That’s what competitors do. That crowd came to see us. When you have that mindset, the louder it gets you kind of block it out.”

   LSU had all five starters in double figures to total for 83 of the Tigers’ 84 points. The Tiger’s 8 three-pointers matched a season high, LSU had 8 against Jacksonville in December. 

   Williams was hot all afternoon with 20 points on 7-12 from the field and 4-5 from the three-point line. The freshman’s performance marked the 12th time this season she has reached double figures. She added 7 rebounds and 4 steals as she lit up the highlight reel.

   “I don’t view her as a freshman,” Coach Mulkey said of Williams. “She just has a college ready body, a mindset, and confidence.”

​   The duo down low of Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow combined for 34 points and 17 rebounds. Reese finished with 21 points, 4 assists, and 9 boards while Morrow scored 13 and hauled in 8 rebounds. 

   Hailey Van Lith and Flau’Jae Johns rounded out the five to break double digits. Johnson dropped 16 as she also continued to improve on defense. Van Lith found success shooting the ball with 13 points on 5-11 from the field,  the transfer also added 43 assists and a pair of triples. 

   The Rebels’ Marquesha Davis led all players with 24 points on 10-14 from the field and 7 rebounds. Madison Scott and Snudda Collins were the only other scorers to reach double figures scoring 13 and 12, respectively. 

   LSU ended the afternoon 47-percent from the field compared to Ole Miss’ 40-percent. The Tigers won the rebound battle 44-36 despite being outscored 36-28 inside the paint. LSU went 8-13 for 62-percent from deep and Ole Miss went 3-11 for 27-percent. There were 4 lead changes and Ole Miss held the lead for just 2:38.

​   The Tigers will return home on Thursday to face the Aggies of Texas A&M at 7 p.m. CT inside the PMAC. LSU will then travel to Auburn on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. tip on ESPN. 

   Williams capped off a 6-0 run with a triple to give LSU the early lead over the rebels. Ole Miss responded with a 6-0 run of its own before Morrow hit her first three-pointer to put LSU back up by three. LSU held a 14-12 lead at the first media timeout after going 3-4 from deep to start the game. Tyia Singleton gave the Rebels their first lead of the afternoon as her layup finished a 6-0 run and made it 18-16.  With the game tied at 23, Van Lith hit her first three of the night as the buzzer sounded to regain the lead for LSU. 

   A Davis three-point play tied things back up at 26 early in the second. LSU responded well as it went on an 11-4 run to gain its largest lead of the night, 37-30. Van Lith kept the Tigers momentum as she scored 4 unanswered to force an Ole Miss timeout with 2:39 left before the break. With just over a minute to go, Williams shook a defender to the floor as she stepped back beyond the arch and proceeded to hit LSU’s 7th three-pointer of the half. The Tigers looked comfortable in the second as LSU took a 13-point lead into halftime, 50-37. 

​   LSU’s 7 first half three-pointers was the most scored in one half by the Tigers this season. LSU only out-rebounded the rebels 18-15, but shot 57-percent from the field compared to Ole Miss’ 45-percent. After the first 20 minutes, Davis led all scorers with 14 points and Williams followed closely with 13. 

   The Tigers struggled to get back into rhythm early in the third as Ole Miss went on a 7-0 run to move the margin within six. Williams stopped the run with a pull-up from midrange but the Tiger offense didn’t last long before Ole Miss held them scoreless on a 10-0 run to take the lead, 53-52. LSU responded to the run quickly as it went on a 9-0 run to move the Tiger lead back to eight and force a Rebel timeout. Ole Miss continued to gain on LSU behind Davis who had reached 22 points by the end of the third quarter. Scott closed out the third with two made free throws to put the Rebels within striking distance, 67-62. 

​   LSU started the final quarter on a 12-2 run ahead of the media timeout and gave the Tigers a 15-point lead with 5:39 left in regulation. Ole Miss was only able to score from the foul line in the opening six minutes of the quarter. LSU’s lead would be enough to hold off the late effort and secure its first road conference win of the season.

   BATON ROUGE -- Aneesah Morrow reached a milestone of 1,000 career rebounds in Thursday night’s 92-72 win over Missouri in LSU’s conference opener. Morrow scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds inside the PMAC for her 9th straight double-double, 10th of the season. 

   Flau’Jae Johnson finished with a season high 24 points and 5 rebounds on 11-17 from the field. The total marked the second straight game Johnson reached 20 points or more. Not only was the sophomore productive on offense, Johnson had 3 steals, a block, and locked up Mizzou all night. 

   Angel Reese earned her seventh double-double of the season on 21 points and 13 boards. Reese added 4 assists and a steal. Mikaylah Williams also scored 11 to reach double figures for the 12th time in her 15 collegiate games. 

​   Mizzou was led by Hayley Frank who scored 22 points as she added 4 three-pointers on 8-19 from the field. Mama Dembele and Abby Feit were the only other visitors to reach double figures with 15 and 11, respectively. 
LSU shot 50-percent from the field on 36-72 compared to Missouri’s 44-percent on 28-64. Mizzou finished with 9 three-pointers and LSU made all 3 of its triples in the second half. LSU was able to score 29 points of 18 turnovers and Mizzou scored 15 off of 13 LSU mistakes. LSU outscored Missouri in the paint 52-32 and won the battle off the glass 44-31. 

   For the majority of the game LSU played just six players. Point guards Hailey Van Lith and Last-Tear Poas shared time at the one as the other four starters played for nearly the entire game. Those four were Morrow, Johnson, Reese, and Williams. 

   The Tigers will travel to Oxford on Sunday to take on Ole Miss at 2:00 p.m. inside The Pavillion for its second conference contest of the season. LSU will return home next Thursday to host Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m.

​   After the first five minutes of action, LSU had a 12-11 lead that was backed by 6 points from Morrow and 4 more from Johnson. The Mizzou duo of Ashton Judd and Grace Slaughter hit threes early to keep things close despite their squad giving up 5 turnovers compared to LSU’s 0. Following the media break, LSU built up a 20-13 lead before Missouri went on 1 6-0 run to put themselves within one before the end of the quarter.  

   Frank opened up the second quarter with a go-ahead three-pointer for Mizzou to make it 22-20. Morrow knotted things back up shortly after with a fadeaway jumper near the baseline. Slaughter jogged down the court after a fast break for what looked to be an easy lay up before Johnson flew across the floor and swatted the attempt off the glass. The block set up a three-point play on the other end by Reese to tie the game at 27. The lead switched 5 more times before Reese went on to make two free throws and give LSU a 33-32 advantage. LSU ended the half on a 8-0 run and took a 39-32 lead into the break. 

   LSU had three players in double figures after two quarters; Morrow (12), Reese (11), and Johnson (10). Mizzou connected on 5 three-pointers in the first half compared to LSU’s 0. The home Tigers were able to find their advantage down low, outsourcing their opponent 26-16 in the paint. 

​   Mikaylah Williams brought down the rebound and went coast to coast for a pull up jumper to give LSU its first double-digit lead of the night. Mizzou’s Frank scored 5-straight that included two free throws after Reese was called for an intentional foul. LSU responded with an 11-0 run over two minutes before the media timeout. Missouri looked to build momentum as Abby Feit earned her team’s seventh three of the night before Van Lith hit her first triple to halt the effort. 

   LSU traded buckets early as it held on to its lead built up in the third quarter. LSU went on a 6-0 run to move the margin past 20 before the middle of the quarter. The run included Morrow’s seventh rebound of the night and made it the 1,000th career rebound of her career. LSU moved its lead to as much as 25 before putting in reserves late in the quarter. LSU finished the night with a 20-point lead to begin conference play 1-0. ​
