BOOM! LSU EXPLODES AGAINST AUBURN IN SEC TOURNEY FOR A 78-48 VICTORY

   GREENVILLE, SC - LSU played their first game of the 2023-24 SEC Tournament against Auburn in the Quarterfinal Round on Friday afternoon. The Lady Tigers didn't mess around, blasting Auburn, 78-48.

   LSU finished the game shooting 46% from the floor, 5-9 from three point land for 56%. They had a solid night from the free throw line, hitting 27-31 for 87%. LSU out-rebounded Auburn, 41-31. 
   Flau'Jae Johnson led the team with 25 points. Angel Reese finished with her 21st double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Last-Tear Poa finished with 14 points. Hailey Van Lith added 11 points, while Aneesah Morrow contributed 10. 


   LSU exploded out of the gate to start the contest, going on a 21-0 run over the first six and a half minutes of the opening quarter. 

   The first quarter came to an end with LSU up, 27-5. The Lady Tigers were outstanding over the first ten minutes of the contest, both offensively and on defense. 

   The Ben-Gals would go on a 10-2 run to start the second quarter to increase their lead to 37-7 at the 7:03 mark.

   Auburn refused to quit, outscoring LSU 8-4 over the final 4:42 of the first half. The Lady Tigers held a 43-19 advantage at the half.

   LSU shot 15-33 from the floor for 45% in the first half. They hit 2-4 from behind the arc for 50%. They were perfect from the charity stripe, sinking 11-11. LSU forced Auburn into 13 first half turnovers while only committing five. The Tigers held a slim 21-20 edge in rebounding.
   Flau'Jae Johnson led the Tigers at the half with 17 points. Angel Reese scored 10. Last-Tear Poa added 8 points, while Aneesah Morrow finished with 6 points. Hailey Van Lith closed the first half with 2 points.


   LSU continued their dominance in the second half, outscoring Auburn, 26-12 to lead 69-31 going into the fourth quarter.

   The Tigers took a 38 point lead into the final period and continued to play at a high level, dominating Auburn, outscoring them 17-9 to win 78-48. With the victory LSU will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday.
