Fogelman Arena in New Orleans. With the win, LSU picked up its fifth straight victory to start the season, moving to 5-0, while the Green Wave fell to 2-2 on the season. The Tigers ran their streak of 100-point games to five, joining the Houston Christian (108), Southeastern Louisiana (115), Georgia Southern (118) and Charlotte (117) contests. LSU’s five-straight 100-point outputs matched the Southeastern Conference record for consecutive 100-point games. The other team to accomplish the feat was Coach Kim Mulkey’s 2022-23 LSU team that went on to claim the program’s first national championship. In addition to another 100-point game, LSU’s 559 points through five games this season marks the most across five games in Division I over the last 25 years. LSU returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 20, when it takes on the Alcorn State Lady Braves inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network + with Lyn Rollins and legendary LSU men’s basketball sports information director Kent Lowe on the call. Fans are also encouraged to tune in to the LSU Sports Radio Network with Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams calling the action. The Tigers shot 38-of-69 (55.1%) from the floor, while Tulane went 28-of-81 (34.6%). LSU’s active defense turned Tulane over 22 times and converted those into 31 points on the night. LSU, which led the country coming into the game in bench scoring (57.5), had its bench account for 42 points. Senior Flau’jae Johnson led the Tigers in scoring against the Green Wave, scoring 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting. In addition to Flau’jae, four other Tigers finished in double figures including MiLaysia Fulwiley (20), Mikaylah Williams (16), ZaKiyah Johnson (14) and Amiya Joyner (12). Fulwiley finished with a career high eight steals, surpassing her seven steals from the season opener against Houston Christian. Tulane opened the scoring with two made free throws, but the Tigers were able to follow that up with a 13-0 run until the Green Wave decided to call their first timeout of the game. LSU led 13-2 halfway through the first quarter. The visiting Tigers extended its lead on the back half of the first quarter with a 20-6 run out of the media timeout in a period that was paced by Flau’jae who had 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists in the quarter. After one, LSU led Tulane 33-10. In the second quarter, LSU and Tulane’s offensive output evened out with the Tigers scoring 25 and the Green Wave scoring 24. Fulwiley was the Tigers’ leading scorer in the quarter with six points. She went 3-for-3 from the field and had two assists and two steals. The Tigers’ lead was 58-34 at the end of the first half. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The 5th ranked Lady Tigers (3-0) returned home to to Pete Maravich Assembly Center to play Charlotte on Wednesday night and came away with a dominating, 117-59 win. The Lady Tigers finished the night shooting, 35-71 from the floor for 49%. They were 10-20 from three point land. LSU had another solid night at the free throw line, sinking, 37-46 for 80%. The Lady Tigers won the rebound battle, 54-37. LSU committed 14 total turnovers on the night, while forcing the 49ers into 22. MiLaysia Fulwiley led the team in scoring with 22 points. Mikaylah Williams finished with 18. Flau'Jae Johnson added 16 points. Amiya Joyner had 15 points. ZaKiyah Johnson, Kate Koval and Grace Knox all contributed 10 points each. Bella Hines finished with 7. Kailyn Gilbert scored 6 points. Divine Bourrage added 2 points, while Meghan Yarnevich had 1 point. LSU had another great night defensively, holding Charlotte to only 28% shooting from the floor and blocking six shots. Mikaylah Williams got things going nine seconds into the contest, hitting a three pointer to put the Lady Tigers up quickly, 3-0. A scrappy Lady 49ers team played LSU tough over the first five minutes of the opening period. At the 4:41 official's timeout, the Lady Tigers held a 17-10 advantage. After the timeout, LSU turned things up a notch, going on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 24-10 at the 3:01 mark. The first period came to an end with the purple and gold Ben-Gals leading, 36-12. LSU simply exploded in the second period. Over the first six minutes of the quarter, the Lady Tigers went on a 14-1 run to increase their lead to 50-13 with 3:55 left in the first half. The first half came to an end with MiLaysia Fulwiley hitting a three pointer at the buzzer, putting LSU up by 45 points, 62-17 at the break. The Lady Tigers shot 20-37 from the floor for 54% over the first 20 minutes. They hit 9-14 from behind the arc for 64%. At the charity stripe, LSU sank 13-17 for 76%. LSU out-rebounded the 49ers in the first half, 29-20. The Lady Tigers forced Charlotte into 13 first half turnovers while only committing eight. MiLaysia Fulwiley led the team at the break with 17 points. Mikaylah Williams added 10. Flau'Jae Johnson scored 8 points. ZaKiyah Johnson and Kate Koval both contributed 6 points each. Amiya Joyner and Kailyn Gilbert both finished with 4 points each and Grace Knox added 2. Defensively, LSU held Charlotte without a basket for the entire second period. LSU began the second half out-scoring Charlotte, 14-8 to hold a 76-25 advantage at the 4:26 official's timeout. The Lady Tigers continued to dominate the contest, as they took a 90-34 lead into the final period. Over the first three minutes of the fourth period, LSU out-scored the 49ers, 10-1 to increase their advantage to 100-35 at the 6:54 official's timeout. Several bench players were able to see playing time in the fourth period, as the the Lady Tigers cruised the rest of the way to their, 117-59 victory. With the win, the Lady Tigers are now, 4-0 on the season. Next up, LSU will travel to New Orleans to play Tulane on Monday, November 17 at 6:00 pm. LSU picked up a third consecutive victory to begin the season, moving its overall record to 3-0, while Georgia Southern dropped to 1-2 on the season. The Tigers will return to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for their next contest against Charlotte on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The action can be streamed on SEC Network + with Lyn Rollins and Victor Howell calling the action at 7 p.m. CT. LSU shot 46-of-87 (53%) from the field and 9-of-20 (45%) from behind the three-point arc on its way to a third-straight game scoring 100-plus points. The Tigers’ three consecutive 100-point outputs marked the second time LSU has strung together at least three 100-point finishes. They hit that milestone five straight times to start the 2022-23 season. LSU’s 118 points was a season high. The Tigers scored 108 against Houston Christian and 115 versus Southeastern Louisiana. Johnson, in her return to her home state, led the Tigers in scoring against the Eagles with 19 points. She finished with six assists, four rebounds, and a steal. LSU junior MiLaysia Fulwiley also accounted for 19 points with one assist and seven rebounds. Sophomore Kate Koval, who transferred in from Notre Dame, collected her first double-double during her short stint in Baton Rouge so far. Koval had 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots. In addition to Flau’jae, Fulwiley, and Koval, three other Tigers finished in double figures including ZaKiyah Johnson (17), Mikaylah Williams (15), and Grace Knox (13), contributing to the team’s season high in points. The homecoming game for Johnson drew a Georgia Southern women’s basketball record crowd of 5,322 fans. The game was a blowout from the opening tipoff, as LSU flexed their muscles all night long. LSU was on fire for all four periods and played suffocating defense. The Lady Tigers finished then night shooting, 50-74 for 68%. They hit 8-18 from three point land for 44%. They sank 7-13 from the free throw line for 54%. LSU out-rebounded SLU, 55-20 and forced the Lions into 29 turnovers while committing 15. Flau'Jae Johnson led the team with 17 points. ZaKiyah Johnson and Kate Koval both scored 16 points each. Bella Hines added 14 points. Grace Knox contributed 11. Mikaylah Williams and Kailyn Gilbert both finished with 8 points each. Amiya Joyner added 7 points. Divine Bourrage, Meghan Yarnevich and MiLaysia Fulwiley all scored 6 points each. It was a hot shooting LSU team to start the contest. The Lady Tigers went on a 13-2 run over the first four and a half minutes of the opening period, forcing SLU to call a timeout at the 6:36 mark. Over the final 6:36 of the first quarter, LSU would go on a 17-2 run to take a 30-4 advantage into the second period. LSU continued to pour it on as the second period began. The Lady Tigers dominated the first four and a half minutes of the period, going on a 15-2 run to extend their lead to 45-6 with 5:34 left in the first half. The Ben-Gals were simply too much for SLU on both ends of the court. Over the final 5:34 of the first half, LSU would go on a 16-0 run to take a 55 point lead, 61-6 into the locker room at the halftime break. The Lady Tigers ended the first half shooting 26-38 from the floor for 68%. They were 4-8 from behind the arc. They sank 5-8 free throw attempts. LSU out-rebounded the Lady Lions, 27-9 over the first 20 minutes. The Lady Tigers committed only six turnovers in the first half , while forcing SLU into 17. Several Lady Tigers made it into the scoring column. MiLaysia Fulwiley led the team with 21 points. Mikaylah Williams finished with 14. Flau'Jae Johnson added 12. ZaKiyah Johnson registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Grace Knox sank 10 points. Kailyn Gilbert scored 9 points. Amiya Joyner contributed 8 points. Kate Koval finished with 7. Jada Richard, Bella Hines and Meghan Yarnevich all scored 5 points each and Divine Bourrage added 1 point. LSU had a solid night shooting. They finished 42-79 from the floor for 53%. They shot 7-13 from three point range for 54%. At the charity stripe, the Lady Tigers sank 17-23 for 74%. LSU out-rebounded the Huskies, 45-26. LSU forced 33 turnovers while committing 16. Both teams looked tight early on, sputtering on the offensive side of the court, until LSU scored first at the 9:07 mark on a basket by Zaliyah Johnson. 2-0, Tigers. At the 4:02 officials timeout, the Lady Tigers held a 18-7 lead. After a jittery start, the Ben-Gals settled down and began to slowly pull away. The Huskies played LSU tough over the final four minutes of the first period. The Lady Tigers ended up outscoring Houston Christian, 8-6 to end the period to hold a 26-13 advantage. It took LSU a few minutes to get things going in the second quarter, but eventually outscored the Huskies, 14-7 over the first five minutes of the period. At the 4:51 official's timeout, the Lady Tigers were ahead, 40-20. Both teams were shaky over the final five minutes of the first half. LSU however, turned it up a notch over the final minute and a half going on a 10-0 run to take a commanding, 53-27 lead into the half. Mikaylah Williams led the team at the break with 12 points. MiLaysia Fulwiley added 10. ZaKiyah Johnson and Flau'Jae Johnson both scored 9 points each. Kailyn Glibert contributed 6 points, while Kate Koval has 3 points and Amiya Joyner scored 2. LSU shot 19-40 from the floor for 48%. They were 3-8 from behind the arc for 38%. They sank 12-15 from the free throw line for 80%. The Lady Tigers turned the ball over seven times while forcing the Huskies into 17. LSU also out-rebounded Houston Christian, 26-13 in the first half. LSU began to quickly, pulling away from the Huskies in the third period, out-scoring them, 14-6 over the first four minutes of the quarter to extend their lead to 67-33 at the 5:49 official's timeout. LSU dominated the rest of the period on both ends of the court. As the contest headed into the final period, LSU led, 87-45. The Lady Tigers continued to pull away in the final quarter. Kim Mulkey emptied the bench, as she experimented with different lineups and combinations. At the 5:04 official's timeout, LSU held a 101-52 lead. The Tigers return to action for the regular-season opener against Houston Christian on November 4 inside the Maravich Center at 7 p.m. CT. The contest will be streamed on SEC Network + with Lyn Rollins and Victor Howell calling the first action of the 2025-26 season. Fans can listen to the LSU Sports Radio Network with Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams on the call. The Tiger defense flexed its muscles all night long, holding the Langston offense to 15-of-44 (34.1%) from the field and 4-of-20 (20.0%) from behind the three-point line. LSU was able to hold the Lions to under 15 points in each quarter, while its offense put together four quarters of 27-plus points in each period. The LSU defense forced 36 turnovers, while only turning the ball over eight times as an offensive unit. “Our defense was really good today,” associate head coach Bob Starkey said. “There were some things that we haven’t been doing well. We haven’t been helping and recovering, our rotations have been poor, and we spent a lot of time this week working on that. I felt really good about how our kids responded and played today defensively.” In the first half, the Tigers dominated early, shooting 23-of-43 (53.5%) from the floor while Langtson shot 33.3 percent. LSU connected on 3-of-8 from three-point range and converted 13-of-22 at the free throw line. The LSU offense improved on its shooting in the second half, connecting on 21-of-32 (65.6%) field goal attempts and 15-of-22 free throws. Senior Amiya Joyner led the Tigers against Langston, collecting a double-double on the evening with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Joyner went a perfect 9-for-9 from the field. Fellow forward Kate Koval shined, recording the other double-double of the game. Koval accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds in the exhibition game. “I feel like you have (Amiya Joyner), you have Kate (Koval), you have (Meghan Yarnevich). Those are three physical players that aren’t afraid of contact, and it gives you a presence inside on both ends of the floor,” Starkey said. “I think it’ll make us better. [Amiya Joyner] is incredibly physical, but she also has some finesse to her game. If you watch her finish around the rim, she can bang, bang, bang, and give you a finger roll, a little jump hook, and she’s a great kid. I mean, we’ve really added not just some good players, but we’ve added some good people. In addition to Joyner, five other Tigers scored in double figures, including freshman guard Bella Hines (14), Koval (12), junior guard MiLaysia Fulwiley (11), senior guard Flau’Jae Johnson (10), and sophomore guard Jada Richard (10). “I feel like these two exhibitions definitely showed us the little things that we have to work on,” Koval said. “Obviously, we practice against each other, but going out there and playing against somebody else shows you things. I think we definitely have to work on our defense, our transition defense, and just continue getting that chemistry. I would say more on the defensive end, because I feel like offense is falling pretty good for us, so just focusing on defense, getting stops and learning each other more.” LSU opened the scoring in the first quarter with a Koval layup. The Tigers and Lions traded blows in the following minutes before the home team went on a 19-2 run to close the first quarter out. LSU would lead the visitors 27-11 at the conclusion of the first period. LSU’s 148 points in the exhibition game was the most during Coach Kim Mulkey’s tenure (exhibition or not), surpassing a 2023 regular-season win against McNeese when the Tigers scored 133 points. The most points scored in an exhibition with Mulkey at the helm came against Langston in the 2023-24 preseason prior to Thursday night. LSU will have its final exhibition game against Langston at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Maravich Center before opening the regular season at home against Houston Christian at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Tigers shot 68.2 percent from the floor on 58-of-85 shooting, shot nearly 50 percent from 3-point range (10-of-22), and were a solid 22-of-28 at the free throw line. The Tigers outrebounded the Choctaws, 62-12, and the home team was able to grab 20 offensive boards in the process. Freshman guard ZaKiyah Johnson finished with a double-double after leading the team with 25 points (12-of-13) and 10 rebounds, half of them coming on the offensive glass. Johnson also had one block and one steal in the game. “Well, she just goes and gets it,” Mulkey said “She quick jumps you. She’s gonna come off the boards with a dribble, and she’s heading down the floor. She’s a good player. She’s always around the ball, and she goes and gets offensive rebounds. She has never complained or wavered about anything. I believe in her moving her to the four; look at what we have on the perimeter. And as I told her, I’m just trying to get you on the floor. I need you to go play the four. Don’t look at it as a post, look at it as an opportunity to get lots of minutes. When I need her to go outside and play on the perimeter, she can do that too. But as you see, she’s very comfortable there.” In addition to Johnson, six other Tigers scored in double figures, including junior guard MiLaysia Fulwiley (17), junior guard Mikaylah Williams (16), senior forward Amiya Joyner (15), freshman guard Bella Hines (14), freshman forward Kate Koval (14) and senior guard Kailyn Gilbert (13). Five of the seven players who scored in double figures were newcomers in the program. “Well, they’re very talented,” Mulkey said of the freshmen class. “They know how to win, and because of that, they’re very confident, but yet, they’re coachable. They will have days where those older teachers in the SEC are going to pound their heads, and that’s when I’m going to watch and I’m going to enjoy coaching them because it’s only going to make them better.” LSU began the scoring of the Tigers’ first exhibition by way of a Koval layup. LSU would score the first four points of the contest with another newcomer in Amiya Joyner converting on two free throws. After some back-and-forth scoring from both teams, the Tigers went on a 14-0 run early in the first quarter to take a 25-7 lead at the first timeout. Coach Kim Mulkey decided to make wholesale changes in the lineup, entering four newcomers including Grace Knox, Hines, Johnson, and Fulwiley and Gilbert. That group scored the ball as effectively as the starting five going on a 14-2 scoring run themselves. LSU led the Choctaws 43-10 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, LSU worked on extending its impressive lead, closing out the first half with a 74-23 lead at the half. Slowly but surely, LSU kept adding on to its point total and finished the third quarter with a 113-32 lead. The Tigers outscored their opponent in the third quarter 39-9 while shooting 16-of-24 from the field with four three-point field goals made. With all hands on deck at this point in the game, LSU extended its margin of victory to 102 points as it closed out the contest in the Maravich Center. The 102 point margin of victory is the largest in LSU history regardless of its exhibition status. The previous high was 89 points against McNeese on Dec. 12, 2023. Reese had 15 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Sky to a rousing 89-62 victory over the Brazilian national team on Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Reese was smiling the moment she entered the arena where her college career took off after transferring from Maryland. She earned All-America honors twice and led LSU to the national title in 2023. "I'm just happy to be back to see all the fans, even down to the security guards, because I know how much was put into this program," said Reese, who's entering her second season with the Sky after earning WNBA All-Rookie honors last year, when she set a league single-season rebounding record. A crowd of 6,373, many of whom wore Sky T-shirts and Reese No. 5 jerseys, cheered her and rookie teammate Hailey Van Lith's every move. Van Lith was an LSU teammate of Reese in 2023-24 before playing her final collegiate season at TCU. Van Lith entered the game to a loud ovation with 5:43 left in the third quarter and finished with seven points, five assists and three rebounds. Reese and Van Lith were honored before the game with video highlights of their time at LSU. Tigers coach Kim Mulkey gave the duo bouquets and hugs. Kia Nurse added 11 points for the Sky. Chicago's Kamilla Cardoso, playing against her Brazilian countrywomen, had six points and eight rebounds. Manu Alves led Brazil with nine points. Friday's game was the first for new Sky coach Tyler Marsh. The Sky also debuted a revamped starting lineup, with veteran free agent signees Nurse and Courtney Vandersloot and trade acquisition Ariel Atkins joining Reese and Cardoso. The result was a smooth offense guided by Vandersloot, a four-time all-league guard in her first 12 WNBA seasons with the Sky. She spent the last two years with the New York Liberty. Brazil's next stop in its U.S. tour will be an exhibition against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Sunday at the University of Iowa's arena in Iowa City, where Clark starred in college. Weil SPOKANE, WA - The Lady Tigers took on a very good UCLA team in the Elite Eight on Sunday afternoon but unfortunately fell, 72-65 to end their season. The Lady Tigers finished the day shooting 37% from the floor. They hit 5-15 from behind the arc for 33%. They finished 10-12 from the free throw line for 83%. Both teams turned the ball over 15 times. LSU out rebounded UCLA, 43-38.Johnson led the team with 28 points. Morrow scored 15 while Williams finished with 10 points. LSU started slow, finding themselves trailing in a low scoring affair, 7-4 at the 4:28 media timeout. The Lady Tigers woke up to go on a 9-2 run over the final four minutes of the quarter to take a 13-9 lead into the second period. The Lady Bruins got hot to start the second period, going on a 14-4 run over the first five minutes, taking a 23-17 advantage into the 4:58 media timeout. UCLA continued to outplay LSU, taking a 31-25 lead into the locker room for the halftime break. The Lady Tigers had a tough first half offensively, shooting 31% from the floor. They hit 2-9 from three point range. At the free throw line LSU sank 1-3. The Lady Tigers committed nine first half turnovers while forcing UCLA into five. LSU dominated the boards, 28-17. Aneesah Morrow led the team at the break with 9 points. Sa’Myah Smith and Flau’Jae Johnson both finished with 4 points each. Last-Tear Poa added 3. Jersey Wolfenbarger and Mikaylah Williams each scored only 2 points. UCLA started the third period scoring five quick points, forcing Kim Mulkey to call a timeout. 36-25, Bruins. The Lady Bruins would then go on a 7-4 run over the next two minutes to increase their lead to 43-29 at the 6:33 mark. LSU respond with a 12-3 run over the final six minutes of the quarter, cutting the UCLA lead to five, 46-41 as we headed into the fourth period. UCLA would outscore the Lady Tigers 10-6 over the first four and a half minutes of the period, to lead 56-47 with 6:34 left in the contest. LSU fought back but missed many key wide open shots as they found themselves down 62-55 with only 1:14 left on the clock. UCLA sank their free throws to earn the victory and advance to the final four. Another great season for the LSU women’s basketball program and Kim Mulkey as they finished with a 31-6 record. The Lady Tigers pulled out an 80-73 win to advance to the Elite Eight where they will meet either UCLA or Ole Miss on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00pm. LSU finished the night shooting 43% from the floor. They finished 3-12 from behind the arc. The Lady Tigers had a solid game at the free throw line hitting, 13-17 for 76%. LSU out rebounded State, 52-36. Morrow finished with 30 points and 19 rebounds for a double-double. Smith also rang up a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. Williams finished with 19 points. NC State opened the scoring with an early three point basket just 16 seconds into the contest. LSU responded with six straight, taking a 6-3 lead at the 8:06 mark. Over the next five minutes, the Lady Tigers would go on a 15-7 run to build a 21-10 advantage at the 3:19 media timeout. The first period would come to an end with LSU leading, 23-15. NC State heated up in the second period, outscoring LSU, 19-11 during the first eight minutes to tie the game at 34-34. Over the final two minutes of the first half, State outscored the Lady Tigers, 6-2 to take a 40-36 lead into the halftime break. The Lady Tigers shot 40% from the floor in the first half. They hit 3-7 from three point range for 43%. They were 1-2 from the free throw line. LSU turned the ball over seven times to NC State’s five. The Bayou Ben-Gals led in rebounds, 17-16. Aneesah Morrow led the team at the break with 13 points. Sa’Myah Smith scored 10. Kailyn Gilbert added 7 points and Mikaylah Williams finished with 6. LSU began the third period on a 15-8 run to retake the lead, 51-48 with 4:37 left on the clock. The Lady Tigers maintained their lead, holding a 57-53 advantage as the third period came to an end. NC State began the fourth period outscoring LSU, 12-5 over the first four and a half minutes. At the 5:29 media timeout, The Wolfpack led, 65-62. LSU battled back to regain the lead late, 76-73 with only 44 seconds remaining in the contest. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The Lady Tigers took on Florida State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Monday afternoon and convincingly defeated the Lady Seminoles, 101-71 to advance to the sweet sixteen on Friday to take on NC State. LSU seriously raised their level of play in the second half to dominate the game. The Lady Tigers shot 56% from the floor for the game. They hit 3-10 three point attempts. They had a great day at the free throw line, making 16-17 for 94%. LSU turned the ball over 11 times while forcing FSU into 13. The Lady Tigers dominated on the boards, 46-37. The first five plus minutes of the game was fast and furious with both teams playing well and trading baskets. With LSU leading, 12-10, Mikaylah Williams hit a three pointer causing the crowd to erupt. Annesah Morrow followed with a quick basket to put the Lady Tigers up, 17-10 at the 4:24 mark, forcing Florida State to call a timeout. Over the final four minutes of the opening quarter the teams played even, 12-12. As we headed to the second period LSU held a 31-24 advantage. Florida State opened the second period on fire, outscoring LSU, 10-2 over the first two and a half minutes to take the lead, 34-33. LSU would respond with a 9-4 run over the next three minutes to retake the lead, 42-38 at the 4:38 official’s timeout. The final 4:38 of the half was fast and physical. FSU was able to outscore LSU 11-8, cutting the Lady Tigers’ lead to one, 50-49 at halftime. LSU shot 58% from the floor in the first half. They hit 2-4 from behind the arc. At the free throw line, they made 4-5. The Lady Tigers committed eight turnovers in the first half while FSU turned it over five times. LSU led in rebounding, 22-17. Annesah Morrow led the team at the break with 14 points. Mikaylah Williams scored 12. Sa’Myah Smith finished with 10 points. Jada Richard added 6. Kailyn Gilbert scored 4 points while Miracle Sheppard and Flau’Jae Johnson both finished with 2 points each. LSU opened the third period with an 8-2 run. FSU called a timeout at the 7:42 mark with the Lady Tigers up, 58-51. Over the next three minutes, LSU would go on an 8-4 run to increase their lead to 66-55 with 4:28 left in the period. LSU turned it up over the last four minutes of the third, outscoring FSU 15-0 to take an 81-55 advantage into the fourth quarter. The Lady Tigers had now taken complete control of the contest, building a 34 point lead, 91-47 with 7:05 left in the game. The fans in the PMAC were rocking the house with excitement to the Bengal Brass Basketball Band playing away! LSU coasted the rest of the way for the 101-71 Victory for LSU! Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - It’s March Madness time and the LSU Lady Tigers handled business in round one, dismantling San Diego State, 103-48. LSU shot 50% from the floor on the night. They hit 10-18 from behind the arc for 56%. At the free throw line they sank 21-32 for 66%. The Lady Tigers turned the ball over 11 times to the Aztecs’ 19 times. LSU out-rebounded San Diego State, 53-31. Johnson led the team with 22 points. Williams scored 13. Morrow finnished with another double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds. Smith and Sheppard both finished with 10 points each. Dal Rosario added 9. Wolfenbarger scored 6 points. Richard had 5. Gilbert contributed 4 points and Poa has 1 point. LSU started fast, jumping out to a 7-0 lead during the first two minutes of the contest. The opening run would increase to 11-0, causing San Diego State to call a timeout at the 6:55 mark. The Lady Tigers remained in complete control over the final 5:55 of the first period, outscoring the Aztecs, 16-7 to lead 27-10 as we headed to the second quarter. LSU began the second period on a 9-2 run to extend their advantage to 36-12 at the 4:51 official’s timeout. The Lady Aztecs simply couldn’t handle LSU’s fire power. As they trailed, 49-20 at halftime. LSU shot a strong 59% from the floor in the first half. They sank 6-10 from behind the three point arc for 60%. At the free throw line they went 9-15 for 60%. The Lady Tigers turned the ball over nine times while forcing San Diego State into 12. LSU led the rebound battle at the break, 22-11. Aneesah Morrow led the team at the half with 12 points. Mjracle Sheppard and Flau’Jae Johnson both scored 10 points each. LSU began the second half outscoring the Aztecs, 12-7, increasing their lead to, 61-27 with 4:42 left in the third period. The Lady Tigers continued to dominate, taking a 37 point lead into the final period, 73-36. Over the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, LSU extended their lead to 40 points, 78-38 with 8:07 left in the contest. LSU kept the petal down, outscoring San Diego State the rest of the way, 25-10 for a 103-48 victory for LSU. LSU will move on to round two where they will play Florida State on Monday at 5:00 pm in the Maravich Center.
