STRONG 2nd HALF PROPELS TIGERS OVER THE TIDE,85-66

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The Lady Tigers returned home to host Alabama on Sunday afternoon in front of 12,228 LSU fans and dominated the second half after trailing at halftime to win, 85-66.

   Kim Maulkey made a couple of key changes at the half. LSU switched from man defense to a 2-3, which helped shut down the Crimson Tide attack. Mulkey also replaced Hailey Van Lith with Last-Tear Poa at point guard. Poa had a great second half to spear-head the come back win. 

   Defensively, the Ben-Gals turned up the heat, holding Alabama to only 9 points in the third quarter and only 16 in the fourth.

   Angel Reese finished with a double-double to lead the Tigers with 27 points and 19 rebounds. Flau'jae Johnson scored 16 points, while Mikaylah Williams added 14 points. Last-Tear Poa had a career high 11 points. Aneesah Morrow finished with 9 points and Hailey Van Lith scored 6 on the day. 

   LSU finished the day shooting 30-71 from the floor for 42%. They finished 2-14 from three point land for 14% while sinking 23-29 from the free throw for 79%. LSU turned the ball over 13 times, but forced Bama into 17 total turnovers. The Tigers out-rebounded the Tide, 54-34. 



   Alabama would get on the board first on a three pointer by Loyal McQueen.

   LSU responded with two quick baskets to take the lead 4-3 at the 8:10 mark.

   The Tide would outscore LSU 20-10 over the final eight minutes of the first quarter to hold a 23-14 lead as the contest headed to the second period. 

   Bama was red hot from the three point arc over the first ten minutes hitting 6-12 attempts.

   The Crimson Tide continued their strong play in the second quarter, outscoring LSU, 12-10 over the first six minutes of the period to extend their advantage to, 35-24 with 3:53 left in the first half. 

   The Lady Tigers were unable to gain any ground on the Tide over the final four minutes of the period, as Alabama would lead, 41-31 at the half. 

   Angel Reese lead the Tigers at the half with 10 points. Mikaylah Williams scored 5 points, while Hailey Van Lith, Flau'jae Johnson and Last-Tear Poa all finished with 4 points each. Aalyah Del-Rosario and Aneesah Morrow both. added two points each. 
   LSU forced Bama into five first half turnover while committing eight..  LSU out-rebounded Aalabama, 28-20.

   The Tide sank eight three pointer in the first half to help their cause. 


   The Tigers started the second half looking like a different team, going on a 6-0 run, cutting the Bama lead to 41-37 with 8:47 left on the clock in the third quarter. 

   After a single Bama free throw, LSU would score four unanswered to pull to within one point, 42-41 at the 7:08 mark. 

   LSU regained the lead at the 6:13 mark on a basket by Angel Reese, 43-42, Ben-Gals.

   The Tigers were now wide awake and roaring as they outscored Bama, 18-8 over the final six minutes of the third quarter, taking a 61-50 lead into the final period. 

   LSU continued to play at a high level, outscoring the Tide 8-3 to start the fourth quarter. 69-53, Tigers with 6:56 left in the contest. 

   LSU stayed in control for the remainder of the game, dominating Alabama over the final seven minutes for the 85-66 victory.

   With the win LSU improves to 21-4 overall and 8-3 in the SEC.

   Next up the Tigers travel to College Station on Monday, Feb. 19th to take on Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm CST. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
