Da Boot Sports 1/13/2023 By: David Penn COLUMBIA, MO - Two things remained perfect after LSU traveled to Missouri, LSU’s record improved to 17-0 and Angel Reese’s streak of doubles doubles as LSU took down the Tigers of Missouri, 77-57. Reese has recorded a double double in every contest so far this season. The win continues LSU’s historic start to the season, setting the program mark for most consecutive wins to begin a season. The only question that remains is if or when it will stop. The #5 Tigers seem to be on a collision course with the #1 South Carolina Gamecocks, a game that will happen in South Carolina on February 12. Reese got off to a slower start than usual, ending the first half with four points and four rebounds, but she would turn it on in the second half and finish with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Alexis Morris led all scorers with 24 points, shooting 7-9 from the field, which included going five for five from beyond the arc. LaDazhia Williams started the game for the Tigers in a building she’s all too familiar with, having played for Mizzou the previous two seasons. She got into foul trouble, but scored the first four points of the contest for LSU. Mizzou was led by starting guard Lauren Hansen who scored 22 for the home team Tigers. The loss is the second straight for Mizzou who’s record now stands at 14-4/3-2. Up next for LSU (17-0/5-0) will be a home tilt vs the Auburn Tigers at the PMAC on Sunday January 15th. Auburn will come to Baton Rouge with a 10-6 record and currently on a four game losing streak. The day will be a special one on Sunday as LSU will honor Seimone Augustus before the game by unveiling a statue of her. Augustus is without a doubt one of the greatest athletes ever to wear the purple and gold.
