BATON ROUGE, LA - The Tigers stayed home on Saturday, taking on Central Arkansas on an overcast, chilly afternoon and improved to 2-0 with a 2-0 win over the Bears (0-2).

Luke Holman got the start on the bump for the Tigers and had a strong start mowing down the Bears in order, three up-three down in the first three innings.

With a game that shaped up to be a low scoring pitcher's duel, LSU was able to draw first blood in the bottom of the 4th. Hayden Travinski starting the frame by being hit by a pitch.
After Pearson and Jones failed to reach base, Michael Braswell drew a walk. Steven Milam then singled to right field scoring Travinski.
The game headed to the 5th inning with LSU holding a 1-0 lead.

Griffin Herring replaced Holman early in the top of the 6th inning. Holman had a great outing, finishing with ten strikeouts, while giving up only three hits, no runs and only one base on balls.

Herring would only pitch an inning as he found himself in a jam. With runners on first and second and only one out, Jay Johnson decided to bring in Fidel Ulloa out of the bull pen.
Ulloa closed out the 7th inning with back to back strikeouts to keep the Bears off the score board.

Trying to protect their slim 1-0 lead, Johnson once again went to his bull pen, bringing in DJ Primeaux to replace Ulloa with two outs and runners on first and second.
Primeaux got the final out of the top of the 8th inning to end the Central Arkansas threat.

Jared Jones led off for the Tigers in the bottom of the 8th and added to the LSU lead, slamming a solo home run over the left field wall.
The Tigers would load the bases with two outs, but Tommy White would be unable to bring anyone home.

Samuel Dutton entered the game in the 9th to close things out and that's what he did, getting the final three outs of the contest for the victory.

Luke Holman earned the win while Sammy Dutton got the save on the day.

The Tigers improve to 2-0 and will next face VMI on Sunday at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm CST.
