BATON ROUGE, LA - If LSU has any chance of salvaging their season it must start this weekend against #1 ranked Texas A&M at home in Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field. The Tigers took a step in the right direction, defeating the Aggies, 6-4 in front of 11,007 electric Tiger fans.

Gage Jump got the start in the bump for the Tigers and pitched well despite giving up two solo home runs early. One in the first inning and one in the second.
The contest moved to the third inning with A&M leading 2-0.

In the bottom of the third, LSU got busy. Steven Milam and Jake Brown led things off with back to back walks. Ashton Larson stepped to the plate with two on and one out and hit a single to left field to load the bases.
Tommy White then hit a ground ball that looked like it would be turned into a double play, however he reached first on a fielder's choice. Brown would be put out at third base. White would advance to second on a throwing error. During the crazy action, both Larson and Milam would round the bases to score.
We headed to the fourth with the score all even at 2-2.

Ali Camarillo gave the Aggies the lead right back with his second solo home run of the game. 3-2 Texas A&M after four.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, LSU loaded the bases with no outs. Josh Person hit a two RBI double down the left field line giving the Tigers their first lead of the contest, 4-3. With runners on second and third, still no outs, Hayden Travinski would bring Jared Jones home on a sacrifice fly, adding to the lead. Michael Braswell III would get hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners with only one out.
Milam stepped to the plate and added another run on a single to right field bringing home Pearson. However Milam was thrown out at second trying to stretch the play.
We headed to the seventh with LSU leading, 6-3.

Griffin Herring entered the game to begin the seventh and finished off the contest for the Tigers.

The Aggies would plate an unearned run in the top of the eighth inning.

With the win, LSU improves to 30-17 overall and 8-14 in SEC play.  Fidel Ulloa (1-1) earned the win while Griffin Herring got 4th save of the season.

Game two of the series will be Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is set for 6:30pm CST.
