HOOVER, AL - The Tigers entered the 2024 SEC Tournament as the 11th seed and took on #6 seed Georgia in the early 9:30am contest on Tuesday. The Tigers showed they were wide awake as they had a great outing, beating Georgia, 9-1.

LSU got busy in the first inning. Michael Braswell III started things off with a lead off single to left field. Tommy White then singled up the middle. Next, Jared Jones drew a walk to load the bases with no one out. Josh Pearson stepped to the plate and singled up the middle to bring Braswell and White home. A Travinski fly out to right field would advance Jones to third base to put runners on the corners for the Tigers. Steven Milam was then walked to load the bases again with only one out, chasing the Bulldogs starting pitcher. But the Tigers would leave them loaded as the contest headed to the bottom of the first inning with LSU up, 2-0.

The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the second. Braswell started it off with a one out single. Tommy White then singled putting runners on the corners. Jared Jones walked to load the bases for the third time in the game for the Tigers. Pearson would then ground out to second to score Braswell from third. 3-0, LSU as we headed to the bottom of the second.

The Bulldogs would answer, platting a run in the bottom of the second.  3-1, Tigers.

LSU continued their fine play, adding to their lead in the fifth. Josh Pearson lead off with a double to left field. Hayden Travinski flied out to advance Pearson to third. Milam then stepped to the plate and brought Pearson home with a single. Mac Bingham kept it going with a single up the middle moving Milam to second. Ashton Larson then walked to load the bases. Alex Millazo stepped to the plate and singled to bring Milam home. Unfortunately, Braswell would hit into a double play to end the LSU attack. 5-1 Tigers after five innings.

The Tigers plated another run in the seventh. With two outs, Larson drew a base on balls. Jake Brown was inserted to pinch run for Larson. Millazo then walked. Braswell stepped to the plate and singled to center field to score Brown. We headed to the eighth with the Bayou Bengals leading, 6-1.

LSU starter Gage Jump had a super outing, going seven innings, allowing only one run on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. He threw a season high 105 pitches. He was replaced by Griffin Herring to start the eighth inning.

Steven Milam lead off the ninth with a monster home run over the right field wall. Mac Bingham found his way on base after being hit by a pitch. Jack Brown stepped to the plate and singled up the middle, advancing Bingham to third base. Alex Millazo kept things going with a single to score Bingham. Tommy White then singled to right center, scoring Brown and advancing Millazo to third. The contest would head to the bottom of the ninth with LSU up, 9-1.

Gage Jump (6-1) got the win for the Tigers. Griffin Herring finished off the contest with a strong performance.

LSU will play the #3 seed Kentucky Wildcats next on Wednesday, May 22 at 9:30am.
