 Photo By: LSUsports.net Da Boot Sports 4/20/2024 By: Terrill J. Weil COLUMBIA, MO - LSU dropped game two of their series with Missouri, 8-7 on Saturday. Going into the 9th inning trailing 8-4, LSU's comeback fell just short. Missouri got on the board early as they plated two runs in the bottom of the 1st off of LSU starter Luke Holeman. 2-0 Missouri as the contest headed to the 2nd inning. LSU was able to answer in the 2nd. With runners on first and second Michael Braswell III hit a RBI single to left field. 2-1 Missouri as we headed to the bottom of the second. Missouri got the run back in the bottom of the frame to regain their two run lead, 3-1. The home team Tigers extended their lead in the bottom of the 5th. With a runner on first, Trevor Austin doubled to right center field to plate a run. After issuing a base on balls, Holeman was replaced with Aiden Moffett. Moffett struggled surrendering a ground rule double hit that plated another run. With runners on second and third, Danny Corona singled to clear the bases giving Mizzou a 7-1 advantage as the 5th inning mercifully came to an end. Jared Jones stepped to the plate to lead off the top of the 6th and launched a home run over the center field wall. Unfortunately, that would be all the Tigers could muster as they now trailed 7-2 heading into the bottom of the inning. Hayden Travinski pulled the Tigers closer in the top of the 8th with a two run homer, cutting the lead to 7-4. But Missouri answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer by Brock Daniels. LSU trailed 8-4 heading to the 9th inning. With the loss the Tigers fall to 24-16 overall and 4-13 in the SEC. The series rubber match will be played on Sunday at 2:00pm CST.
