After Pearson struck out, Bingham grounded out to move Travinski to second. It started with Tommy White ripping a one out triple to right center. Jared Jones then stepped to the plate and provided a timely hit with a single to left field to score White. 2-0 LSU after three. LSU flexed their muscled again in the bottom of the fourth. After loading the bases with no outs. Tommy 'Tank' White then stepped to the plate and hit a single to center field, scoring Milazzo and advancing Braswell to second base. LSU now held a 5-0 lead as we headed to the fifth inning. The Rebels/BlackBears/Land Sharks, whatever they call themselves, got on the board in the top of the fifth when Judd Utermark hit a one out solo homer over the left center wall. After giving up the home run, Gage Jump continued his fantastic job on the bump, getting LSU back into the dugout with a 5-1 lead. After a lengthy weather delay due to lightning in the Baton Rouge area, the contested resumed with Christian Little taking over on the bump for Gage Jump. Both teams would struggle at the plate after the weather delay. The LSU pitchers did a great job keeping the Ole Miss hitters handcuffed over the final three innings of the contest. Gage Jump (5-1) earned the win for the Tigers while Griffin Herring got his 5th save of the season. With the win LSU improves to 34-20 overall and 11-17 in the SEC. Game two is set for Friday, May 17 at 6:30pm. Start time could possible be moved with bad weather expected in the Baton Rouge area on Friday.
