 Photo By: LSUsports.net Da Boot Sports 4/26/2024 By: Alexis Persicke BATON ROUGE, LA – Friday night was the first game in a series of three that LSU will played against Auburn at Alex Box Stadium. The first two innings were a battle for who could get out of a streak of none on base. Auburn singled in the third to get out of the funk, while LSU went 0 for 3. The third inning is where LSU found their groove. They shut down Auburn once again while on defense, and Tommy White hit a solo home run for LSU’s first hit of the game, and his sixteenth of the season. The inning ended 1-0 Bayou Bengals. Auburn jumped on LSU in the fifth with a single and a stolen base. One of their players fought hard at the plate, being thrown 10 pitches, yet they were still unable to score. LSU didn’t go quiet either, as Travinski copied White with a solo home run. Nothing was earned for Auburn yet again in the sixth. On the mound, Gage Jump continued to keep them from making any progress. LSU gained two singles from Larson and White, but no runs. The game stood at 2-0. The seventh inning was the most eventful inning for LSU. Travinski had a hit, and advanced to third on Braswell’s single. Braswell then stole second. Milazzo doubled, sending two runs across the plate. A valuable hit for his only one of the game. Kling was hit by a pitch and Larson earned another single. LSU ends the inning with three more runs, 5-0. A pitching change is made in the eighth, Christian Little for Jump. Jump threw 101 pitches with six strikeouts and only allowed two hits. Little followed in Jump’s footsteps with three back to back strikeouts. In the final half, Little continued to hold his ground, allowing none on base. He had two 4-3 plays, and ended the game with a backwards K. Auburn went 0 for 3 in six out of nine innings thanks to LSU’s elite pitching during this game. LSU won 5-0. With the victory LSU improves to 27-16 overall and 6-13 in SEC play. The LSU Tigers will continue their series against Auburn on Saturday, April 27th at 6:00 pm in Baton Rouge.
