Da Boot Sports 8/3/2023 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - Thursday was day one of fall football practice as Brian Kelly's Fighting Tigers began to prepare for their season opener against Florida State in Orlando on September 3rd. Practice began early in the Indoor practice facility where the team worked on individual drills and some practice reps before heading outdoors for the second half of their day. You can already see how much the offense is oozing with unbelievable talent. The wide receiver position is talented and deep, led by Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Kyren Lacy. The receivers dominated the defensive backs in one on one drills, having their way throughout the practice. Expect Alabama transfer Aaron Anderson to make some noise this season. Chris Hilton Jr. looked really good. The defensive backs are talented, but they will be a work in progress. We will be watching the development of this group closely until the season kicks off. Fingers crossed that it all comes together. Duece Chestnut and Zy Alexander were the starters at corner back on day one. It was no surprise to see Will Campbell: LT, Garrett Dellinger: LG, Charles Turner: C, Miles Frazier: LG and Emery Jones: LT take first team reps on the offensive line. During the spring, the Tigers were super thin at the running back position, but today we saw the position reloaded. Josh Williams took most of the first team snaps with Notre Dame transfer Logan Diggs getting some nice touches. Armoni Goodwin looked good while sporting a knee brace on his recovering knee. Freshman Kaleb Jackson looks like the real deal. John Emery Jr. is expected to return to practice on Friday. All the running backs looked impressive. The defensive front looks incredible. Maason Smith returns and looks really good. Ovie Oghoufo looks fast and powerful. Sai'vion Jones is the real deal. Don't forget Mekhi Wingo, who should be a force to deal with also. A highlight of the day was freshman tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton who is a beast. He has it all, size, speed and great hands. Impressive, most impressive. All three quarterbacks, Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier and Rickie Collins looked impressive making great, accurate throws throughout practice. The Tigers will practice again Friday morning before having a closed to the media practice on Saturday. They will rest on Sunday, then return to practice Monday morning, which the media will be able to attend. Below is video of Brian Kelly's Post Practice Press Conferense.. Enjoy! GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
