BATON ROGUE, LA -  LSU traveled to Starkville into cowbell hell-land and came away with an impressive
41-14 SEC victory.

It was a complete team win with Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers having an incredible day along with a strong performance by the LSU defense.

Daniels had a brilliant, record setting day, finishing with a LSU school record, completing 88.2% of his passes. He finished the game going 30-34 for 361 yards with two touchdown passes. He also added 64 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Malik Nabers ran wild through the Bulldog secondary finishing with 13 catches for 239 yards and two touchdown grabs.

The defense played with hustle and heart all day long, dominating the Mississippi state offense as they made life miserable for State quarterback Will Rogers, sacking him four times and harassing him all game.

LSU took early command of the contest, as the defense did a great job of shutting down the State offensive attack, while Jaden Daniels and the offense looked explosive.

The Tigers drove 77 yards on 14 plays on their first possession, settling for a Damian Ramos 22 yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 6:36 left in the first quarter.

Jayden Daniels and the LSU offense remained hot as they extended their lead to 10-0, going 70 yards in only four plays as Daniels hit Malik Nabers on a 26 yard touchdown in the far corner of the endzone. At this point in the game, Daniels was 13-13 for 128 yards passing and a touchdown.

LSU took their next possession into the second quarter and added to their lead when Daniels found Nabers again, this time for a 33 yard touchdown. The drive covered 63 yards in eight plays. 17-0 Tigers with 14:11 left in the first half.

The Tigers were hungry for more as they would drive 66 yards in only six plays, culminating with a one yard touchdown run by Josh Williams, giving LSU a 24-0 advantage with 3:24 left in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs finally put a drive together, driving 72 yards on six plays, highlighted by Jo'quavious Marks' 52 yard run. Mississippi State finished off the possession when Lideatrick Griffin punched it into the end zone from nine yards out to cut the LSU lead to 24-7 with 50 seconds left on the clock.

LSU would take an impressive 17 point lead, 24-7 into the locker room at the half time break.

The Tigers opened the second half driving 53 yards on 11 plays, settling for a 41 yard field goal to extend the lead to 27-7.

After the Tigers defense stopped State on downs, the LSU offense produced another nice scoring drive, going 63 yards in five plays, finishing with a five yard touchdown run by Jayden Daniels. 34-7, Tigers with 3:27 left in the third quarter.

LSU would then go on probably their nicest drive of the contest, going 75 yards in 12 plays, ending with a one yard touchdown run by Jayden Daniels. The highlight of the drive was a beautiful 41 yard completion from Daniels to Malik Nabers down to the State one yard line. 41-7 Tigers!

With Brian Kelly deciding to insert reserves into the game with a commanding lead, the Bulldogs were able to put a scoring drive together, going 58 yards on 10 plays, scoring on a four yard touchdown pass for garbage points. LSU now held a 41-14 lead with 4:26 left in the contest.

The Tigers would run out the final 4:26 to clinch the huge road conference win.

LSU (2-1 / 1-0) will return home next week to host the Arkansas Razorbacks. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm CST and the game will be carried on ESPN.
