Da Boot Sports 11/4/2021 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA: LSU vs. Alabama. It's usually one of the top football games of the college football season. A week of thrill and excitement for LSU fans as the Tigers prepare to battle one of our most disliked SEC opponents. However, the sign of thrill and excitement has been replaced with disappointment and frustration this week as LSU, whom many felt had an opportunity to compete for the SEC West this season, goes into Tuscaloosa on Saturday with a 4-4 record. Not many give the Bayou Bengals a chance against the 3rd ranked Crimson Tide, including myself, and the odds-makers who have made LSU a 28 point underdog. The Tigers have shown little to no ability to run the football or protect the passer against top notch competition this season. LSU is also a beat up football team missing several key players to injury. Players who if healthy, no doubt could have made a difference in this upcoming ball game. Andre Anthony, Ali Gaye, Joseph Evans, Derek Stingley Jr., Eli Ricks, Kayshon Boutte, and Anthony Bradford have all lost for the season. The LSU secondary will also be without Major Burns, Sage Ryan, and Cordale Flott this weekend. Even that may be just too much for DBU to overcome against Bryce Young and the Bama passing game. But it's LSU's inability to stop the run that raises the highest concern. Since the Tide's loss to Texas A&M, they have recommitted themselves to a power running attack and the Tigers have given up 896 yards rushing over their last four contest. Hopefully with the Tigers having an extra week to rest up and prepare for the Tide, they will be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat and if not pull a shocking upset, at least keep the game respectable. I just don't see that happening since LSU couldn't practice or scrimmage last week due to a shortage of healthy players, along with Nick Saban and his team having an extra week to prepare also. I hope and pray for a purple & gold miracle on Saturday, but the only way LSU can win this game is if they play perfect and mistake free, with Alabama suffering a rare melt down. Looks like our Tigers may be facing a second straight embarrassing loss to the Tide after last season's 55-17 massacre in Tiger Stadium. PREDICTION: Alabama 62, LSU 20
