BATON ROUGE, LA - The Tigers return to the practice field on Monday morning after their Sunday rest day and put in another good Brian Kelly fast pace style workout.

My staff photographer Michael Bacigalupi reported that the offense is looking really good. No doubt this will be a better football team in year two of the Brian Kelly era.

Josh Williams and Logan Diggs are still splitting snaps with the first unit. Expect one of the two to be a starter. Noah Cain, John Emery and Armoni Goodwin will get playing time. The two freshman backs, Trey Holly and Kaleb Jackson continue to impress. The running back position is loaded.

The wide receiver position is so deep and talented. If Malik Nabers draws double coverage it will open things up for Kyren Lacy and Brian Thomas Jr. who I expect to have a huge breakout season as a junior. Aaron Anderson is a huge addition and should contribute immediately. Looks like he may be the favorite to return punts.

Jayden Daniels continues to show improvement on his deep throws. Nussmeier is improving on his decision making and has been throwing nice passes.

At linebacker Harold Perkins and Omar Speights will be the starters. Greg Penn III looks impressive and will see playing time. The Weeks brothers, Will and Whit continue to show their talents and help add solid depth to the position.

The defensive line has the opportunity to be a very powerful, dominating force.

In the secondary, Duce Chestnut and Zy Alexander look to have a lock on the corner back starting positions currently.  They are rotating a lot of bodies in the secondary.

Tempers got as hot as the Louisiana heat during 11 on 11 drills as a huge ugly fight between the offense and defense broke out. The fight started after Harold Perkins and Kyren Lacy got into a scuffle. After the brawl ended some players were sent inside before practice continued.
Brian Kelly seemed very disappointed while addressing the team after the fight.
“We have to be able to maintain our emotions, while staying aggressive. It’s up to you all to figure that out, it’s not something that the staff can do for you. Respect your brother out here always.”  ...... Practice then resumed for the final sessions.

I'm sure the extreme heat has tempers short with the players, but fights like this one is a concern so close to the start of the season. We don't need someone getting injured from punches being thrown. A broken hand or broken jaw could end someone's season.

The Tigers will practice again on Tuesday morning.
