Da Boot Sports 8/10/2023 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The Bayou Bengals return to practice on Thursday after a much needed day of rest. The team continue to work hard preparing for the 2023 season as their first day in full pads saw them turn up the physicality of the practice sessions. Lineman went at it hard in blocking drills. It was great to hear the sounds of pads pounding in the air. We're getting close everyone! 24 days until the Tigers kickoff on September 3rd. The defensive backs turned it up a notch on Thursday, out battling the deep and talented group of LSU receivers. It was nice to see a defensive day since the offense has dominated in drills since fall camp has begun. Bad news for Ohio State defensive back transfer JK Johnson as he will be out indefinitely with a fractured left leg. The major injury to Johnson adds a sting to the depth in LSU's secondary. Other than Johnson's situation, the Tigers have been basically healthy for the first week of fall practice, except for a few minor bumps and bruises and some players struggling with the extreme heat. The Tigers will return to practice on Friday and Saturday before having a rest day on Sunday. Friday's practice will be closed to the media. Offensive Coordinator Mike Denbrock met with the media at the conclusion of the practice day. Video of his press conference is below.
